You know who I've never seen criticize the politics of the Star Wars prequels? Map-gamers and history buffs. You know who's never criticized the CGI? VFX Artists and set designers. You know who never criticized the dialogue of the romance? People who've actually had young love and had bad breakups. You know who never criticized the Character of Jar-Jar Binks? Anyone who's actually had to work with political candidates. . At every turn the people who supposedly should be MOST upset about some "flaw" of the story, actually adore that thing in particular. On the Contray all the "criticisms" are seemingly a smokescreen for a seething hatred and ressentiment against the Young white boys and girls the films are made for and targeted at. The space politics aren't hated because they "Don't make sense" the politics are handled very similar to Turkish-Arab-British Relations in 'Lawrence of Arabia' or Colonialism in 'the Battle of Algeirs' or the Russian Revolution in "Dr Zivago" there, but in the background relative to the Characters... They're hated because the exist at all reminding people that precocious 12 year olds are actually reading the books and following it. The CGI is hated not because its "Bad" but because it doesn't give the illusion of watching something edgy and "mature" but rather dives headfirst into the Weird of the Fantastic setting that awkward nerds feel status anxiety about enjoying, and non-nerds feel threatened by. The Romantic dialogue is hated because it reminds grumpy people who've never had love that people who do are suave space pirate power fantasies... They're just braver and slog through the awkward (like kids do in their first love) Jar-Jar is hated because he speaks exactly as stupidly and rediculously as Americans desperately pretend their own diversity hires and sports/music stars do all the time... He's jsut different enough that it pains Americans to look on it in relation to another dying republic (Yes JarJar is exactly what 50% of US politicians and celbrities look like, no embellishment, exactly the man who attains high status in a late egalitarian republic) . They hated the prequels NOT for being bad, but for being TRUE in a way that insulted their lies, and they could see all this was true when they saw innocent kids eating it up!

The plot of the prequels is objectively better written, multi-actor, motivationally clear, realistic... Episode 4: Chosen One! Save the princess from the bad guys who make planet go boom. Episode 1: A blockade of a planet in a delicate diplomatic situation escalates when a shadowy political figure tries to assassinate the two diplomats, who escape and proceed to contact the other side of the blockade. Episode 1 is objectively MORE mature, politically complex, less reliant on coincidence. when the Jedi meet Jar Jar or Anakin they're just locals, Anakin is a vaguely force sensitive kid with an air of destiny, JarJar is a clown along for the ride, normal people you meet in small towns, probably someone like that on every planet... When the Droids meet Luke by pure coincidence he's the one in trillions long lost son of the evil space wizard who's Second in command of the Galaxy, and lives next door to one of 5 Jedi Masters left in the entire galaxy... Way less likely. The Original Trilogy is a theme park ride, whereas the Prequel trilogy resembles actual politics, to the point where A lone Pleasure Yacht running a geopolitically massive blockade actually just happened in the Strait of Hormuz like 3 months back. Likewise Anakin winning the pod-race, teenagers win major competitive races like NASCAR all the time... Likewise everything on Coruscant exactly 100% looks like politics in ay western democracy, right down to the feigned attempts to do things that they know will fail meant to manipulate you... Or the elite educational institute actually existing to set you up to fail and never be allowed to breed, so that the natural elite of white force users never get a chance to rule? Just like real life. Real life looks way more like The Phantom Menace or Attack of the Clones than Empire Strikes back or Return of the Jedi.
