States are relying on the @FCC's Affordable Connectivity Program to ensure broadband is affordable for their low-income residents.
But with funding dwindling, the future of the program remains uncertain.
A look at the role ACP plays in state DE plans:

USF Programs Should Embrace Competition
"One of the primary goals in enacting the '96 Act was....to let any communications business compete in any market against any other firm. Changes in the USF programs should continue to support and advance this goal." benton.org/blog/usf-programs…
"The E-Rate program is working and will be critical to extending the essential broadband connections necessary for the estimated 23.5M students attending schools that still lack adequate bandwidth to support digital learning in every classroom, every day."

She has continually sought to raise public awareness, demonstrating, again and again, the ability to communicate what is at stake in ways that ordinary people can understand.
Sohn has long been at the forefront of helping advance pragmatic policies that help improve the lives of everyday Americans, and the Benton Institute is proud to be associated with her.

My statement, applauding the @FCC's move towards phone justice:
benton.org/content/benton-in…
We are pleased that the FCC is moving so quickly to start the implementation of the Martha Wright-Reed Just and Reasonable Communications Act.
Incarcerated people and their loved ones have waited far too long to obtain the right to stay in touch and to help keep their families intact. We are proud that our Board Member, former FCC Commissioner @MignonClyburn has played a pivotal role in getting to this result.
My statement on Benton Senior Fellow and Public Advocate @gigibsohn ending her bid for seat on the @FCC.
benton.org/content/benton-se…
We applaud her commitment to public services, her passion for extending affordable broadband to all Americans, her dedication to consumer protection, and her willingness to answer the President’s call for service.
Americans deserve principled leaders who can stand up for consumers and the public interest.
