Dems won big on an affordability message, but as @linamkhan said via @CrookedMedia last year, "How much can you fix affordability without demanding some type of accountability" from corporate players?

We relentlessly — in the face of a lot of skepticism — harangued Dems to focus solely on health care during the shutdown. In hindsight, it’s obvious. From one year ago:
this is really interesting from @davidshor, the government shutdown in 2025 worked *precisely because it raised the salience of healthcare* having the shutdown be over ACA subsidies instead of ICE was not uncontested among dems at the time

Voters made it pretty clear on Tuesday: they want Congress to expose the corporate greed that is raising prices for everyday Americans. @RobertGarcia is calling out corporations that use surveillance pricing as one of his top priorities.

After the financial crisis when millions lost their jobs and homes, not a single corporate executive was held accountable. Since then—and especially on Tuesday—we've seen the rise of economic populism, with voters demanding that Washington take on the corporations, executives, and investors who are making out like bandits at everyday Americans' expense. No more. Democrats must haul them in, demand accountability, and secure material results.

The rumors are true: We've been watching corporate America & taking notes. It's clear: Corporate greed is behind rising prices. “We’re talking resignations of major CEOs, hauling people in, material restitution. Economic populism is ascendant,” @owenslindsay1 told @jstein_sun.

Our polling shows broad support for investigating corporate price gouging. “We need to be laser-focused on the pain points and the corporations people blame for jacking up their prices, and that means using the tools of Congress,” @AlexSJacquez told @jstein_sun.

This is critical. Oversight needs to focus on lowering costs, not just palace intrigue stories that play well on cable news inside the Beltway. Corporations have had two years with no cops on the beat to rip people off, steal wages, and union bust. No more.
Replying to @jstein_sun
Effort from @Groundwork argues that Dems need to use congressional power to connect w/ pocketbook concerns, not just Trump controversies “Trump’s Qatari jet, his ballroom, the Reflecting Pool renovations — those take a lot of Beltway energy that is not interesting or motivating to anybody but hard-core Democrats who already hate Trump,” @AlexSJacquez argues

For those who see this strategy as it odds with a focus on corruption, you don’t get it. Corporate influence in Washington is what voters are referring to when they say Washington is corrupt
