The proposed Paramount-Warner Bros. merger is illegal and must be blocked. @WGAWest and @WGAEast are bringing this case to protect workers, consumers, and American culture from this catastrophic merger. I am immensely proud to represent them alongside my talented colleagues. More to come.

There’s a direct line between the corruption in Washington and the high costs we’re feeling here at home. That’s why I’ve never taken a dime of corporate PAC money and I’ve introduced legislation to get money out of politics. It’s time for DC to get its priorities straight.

For too long, two academics' views have outweighed the will of Congress in antitrust, letting vertical integration and market power shape the economy against Main Street and farmers. Good for @MeadorFTC for endorsing an approach that judges the monopolists’ whole playbook.

Google keeps repeating the same excuse: that app store competition compromises user safety. Meanwhile, Google let a fake Chrome app pay its way to the top of its search results and amass over 100k downloads before doing anything about it. Openness and security can coexist. When gatekeepers face zero meaningful competition, they only act to mitigate bad PR. Consumers and developers deserve real choice. androidauthority.com/fake-ch…

NEW from me: Meta tops Big Tech lobbying as AI labs talk antitrust --Both OpenAI and Anthropic list antitrust and information-sharing among labs as topics discussed w/ lawmakers in Q3 2026 Anthropic specifically lobbied on the Banks/Schiff AI security information-sharing bill, OpenAI's form mentions antitrust protections but isn't specific Remember Amodei pushed for antitrust protections on pacing while Chris Lehane later said that would not be necessary semafor.com/article/10/21/20…

So Becca Balint is going to run as the top Dem on the House Antitrust Subcommittee, which is more important than you may think. Balint's great, her potential foe Lou Correa is...not, & fighting Trump corruption/the oligarchy runs through this subcommittee. prospect.org/2026/10/19/rep-…

Scoop: Rep. Becca Balint (D-VT) has thrown her hat in the ring for the House Antitrust Subcommittee’s chair position, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Could not agree more with @JoeVanWye, and cheering @RepBeccaB on! “Few members of the Judiciary Committee, or the House more broadly, have demonstrated Rep. Balint’s commitment to strengthening and enforcing the antitrust laws over the past four years. She’s made clear her interest in leading the Antitrust Subcommittee, and I believe she would be exceptionally well positioned to build on the legacy of Chairs Nadler and [former Rep. David] Cicilline,” Joseph Van Wye, a senior adviser at Cuneo, Gilbert, Flannery & LaDuca, LLP, an antitrust and consumer protection law firm, told the Prospect.
New from me: Her bid for the chair spot sets up a fight over the direction the Democratic Party takes in how deals with corporate power in the next Congress.

Don’t miss this conversation between @halsinger and @brendanballou on forced arbitration—one of the top issues for anyone who cares about worker and consumer access to justice (or in this case lack thereof).
Learned so much about the dangers of the growing private legal system speaking with @brendan_ballou, author of the book "When Companies Run the Courts: How Forced Arbitration Became America's Secret Justice System" (2026). Here's a teaser from our Slingshot interview, where I asked Brendan just how pervasive these provisions are in customer and employee contracts.

Love to see it — @geneburrus is one of the best minds around on this.
Our Global Policy Counsel @geneburrus joined Alan Chapell on @marketecturetv's @monopoly_report to discuss mobile competition, Safari’s domain blocking and why innovation shouldn’t depend on permission from Apple and Google. Listen below ⬇️

Contrary to Apple propaganda, opening up the ecosystem and enabling competition would better serve consumers’ privacy and security. Pig butchering could have been solved by now, for example.
There are legitimate security concerns with the level of integration being opened up that Europe is demanding

"The AI stack could theoretically trigger nearly every classic antitrust issue into a single ecosystem, including control of infrastructure, network effects, vertical integration, platform gatekeeping, and rapid technological change."
"When it comes to antitrust, AI is for the most part just another technology in need of quiet, nerdy analysis on a case-by-case basis. This fact may prove disappointing to those in search of a unitary, administration-wide 'AI Competition Policy,' but that is not how antitrust enforcement works." @gailaslater on AI and antitrust.

Competition is good, especially in the antitrust podcast space. Excited to check out @HawAllensworth and @johnmarknewman riff on "Lawless Antitrust."
The best new #antitrust podcast, no contest. Rebecca is a wonderful host -- smart, funny, thoughtful, curious, engaging.

“No tech giant has been more aggressive in putting AI in front of schoolchildren than Google. The search engine juggernaut’s ubiquitous presence in American classrooms through Chromebooks and its software partnerships with schools have provided a critical launchpad for its AI tools to reach kids. But the rollout has helped push many students to become academically and emotionally dependent on AI, according to interviews with more than 60 teachers, school officials, parents, children and clinicians. Google’s own researchers have written that the technology can pose elevated risks to children, who struggle to distinguish chatbots from human interaction, and has potential for cognitive and emotional harm, according to interviews with current and former Google employees and a review of more than a dozen Google research papers.”

“For the past 40 years we’ve let large businesses and the richest Americans concentrate wealth on the theory that at some point, later on, the winnings would reach everyone. Unfortunately, that ‘later’ never came. Making things worse, the economic imbalances in our time are more varied than the simple divide between rich and poor. We also have economic divides between geographic regions, between generations, between small and large companies, between employers and employees. And now, seemingly, we have a divide between the tech industry and everyone else: We’re often being told that if left alone, A.I. is a tide that will lift all boats — but the skeptics have history on their side.”

👏Great to see @NewYorkStateAG call out this labor and antitrust issue in an ongoing legal fight among competing employers of cardiologists, highlighting how nonsolicitation agreements can run afoul of competition law. “Elinor Hoffmann said the nonsolicitation agreement at issue restricts competition for labor between ‘two rival medical facilities’ and that the case ‘implicates . . . New York’s strong public interest in free competition.’” beckersasc.com/cardiology/ne…

Yes, who wouldn’t trust the guy whose company was just labeled a public nuisance by a court for causing a youth mental health crisis and who agreed to pay the GDP of Botswana to address the harms he’s caused? Is it too much to ask to have regulations that aren’t written by oligarchs for oligarchs?
I think it's a significant positive step that the leaders of every major American lab have committed to implementing robust internal controls and multiple layers of audits and reviews. This should give people more confidence that the technology each lab is building will work as intended.

What an honor to write about the legacy of Jerry Nadler for @CityandStateNY 20th anniversary. @RepJerryNadler is a principled, fearless leader, and his influence will carry on long after he leaves Congress, not just because of the laws he has passed but the politics he has practiced. cityandstateny.com/opinion/2…
