“We believe the Speaker should represent the Democratic voters, not just the Democratic establishment,” it reads.

🌐🇵🇷🇩🇴 PROYECTO HOSTOS | Primera interconexión eléctrica submarina entre Puerto Rico y República Dominicana
Caribbean Transmission Development Company (CTDC) avanza con el permiso presidencial PP-502 del Departamento de Energía de EE. UU. El proyecto contempla un cable de aproximadamente 150 km a través del Canal de la Mona, desde San Pedro de Macorís hasta Mayagüez, con capacidad bidireccional de hasta 700 MW. La fase inicial proyecta 500 MW y entrada en operación hacia 2031. Inversión estimada: US$2.500 millones.
Para Puerto Rico significaría diversificar generación y mejorar resiliencia ante interrupciones. Para República Dominicana abriría opciones de intercambio energético e integración comercial. El permiso no equivale a construcción: faltan contratos de compra, financiamiento, evaluación ambiental y definición de costos finales.
El Canal de la Mona vuelve a ser nodo estratégico. La pregunta relevante no es la capacidad anunciada, sino si el Caribe puede construir infraestructura compartida sin trasladar vulnerabilidades de una isla a la otra.
