'it’s not the case that institutions have been taken over by radicals, but that radicalism has been conquered by mainstream institutions'

They tell you that Mao killed 40 million people but they never tell you that the United States had a full embargo on China from 1950 to 1971, including on FOOD during the worst period of famine from 1959 to 1961.
When the West tells you Mao killed 40 millions Chinese, the West hopes you never remember that there was an active embargo on China, even on food.
Mainland China was subject to what Cuba endures still up to this day.

Of all the stupid things the human race has ever done, this was probably the stupidest.
Happy November! This month Voyager 1 will become the first spacecraft to reach 1 light day from Earth. 🔭 #astro
It has a menu on it to all intents and purposes with *literally* our address (!!!) on it. The Voyager 1 'All you can eat' plaque ('eat one get the fatter one free').

Ben Moser, author of “Anti-Zionism: A Jewish History”, is now on X/Twitter. Follow him at @BenMoser123:
I waded into controversy on Piers Morgan with @s_m_marandi: which is older, a European settler colony founded in 1948 or one of the most ancient nations in the world?
This could only have arisen in a worldview where it's more 'cool' to be seen to be oppressed than the oppressor, more socially acceptable to be the victimised than the victimiser, and in which mental health issues are a badge of honour to be weaponised against your opponents.
Telling the story of what happened in my last years at the BBC has meant being honest about something I have found even harder to talk about.
After I raised a grievance about antisemitism, I was gradually isolated and denied more and more of the job I loved so much. The loneliness of that took a serious toll on my mental health. I became ill with anorexia, a recurrence of an illness I had when I was younger, but this time it came back with a vengeance. Each time I thought I was taking a step or two forward, something would happen at work that knocked me back.
I was ashamed, and at times I am not sure I was believed. I kept trying to explain that I was struggling. More than once I was told I wasn’t the only one. I felt like colleagues thought I was making it up.
Since February last year I have been admitted to hospital four times. The most recent admission, and I hope the last, was for three months over the summer. The NHS staff on that ward saved me.
I’m sharing this because if I was going to tell my story honestly, I had to tell all of it. Shame keeps people silent. Anorexia is an illness, not a choice and not a weakness, and no one who is this unwell should have to prove it.
Swipe for some of what I was told along the way.
@HadleyFreeman has also struggled with anorexia, and in her brilliant piece in The Sunday Times she writes about our shared experience. Thank you, Hadley.

'Outside, we have one thing to fix. Inside, we have two.'
This is actually a very good point. Socialists and communists are objectively making their own lives harder (i.e. for themselves) if they campaign for (or succeed in) getting the UK to rejoin.

Going to make this clear:
I will actively campaign against Rejoining the imperialist, genocidal, warmongering, neoliberal capitalist EU
Whatever it's original purposes, it is now a dangerous supranational political entity
Outside, we have one thing to fix. Inside, we have two.
'If voting changed anything, they'd abolish it'.
Likewise if academic Marxism changed anything or even looked like it was going to at some indeterminate point in the future, it would be quickly abolished.

❤️🐾 TO EVERYONE WHO STOOD BY US: THANK YOU. WE NEED YOU NOW MORE THAN EVER. 🚨
To everyone who donated, shared, and stood beside us: your kindness has helped keep our children, families, and rescued cats going. We are deeply grateful. Without you, we would never have made it this far. ❤️
Today, our funds are exhausted, food supplies are nearly gone, and we can barely afford the next meal for those depending on us.
Basic food items are becoming increasingly difficult to find in local markets, while prices continue to rise beyond our reach. Meanwhile, renewed military activity and destruction, particularly in Gaza City, are making an already difficult situation even more uncertain.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO SECURE OUR NEXT MEALS. 🆘
Please donate whatever you can and share our campaigns. Every contribution, no matter how small, can help feed a child or fill a hungry cat's bowl.
You helped us through so many difficult days. Please don't let us face this moment alone. ❤️🐾

🚨💔🐾 TODAY, WE CAN'T EVEN AFFORD ONE MEAL FOR OUR CHILDREN AND RESCUED CATS. 🆘
Imagine standing in front of dozens of hungry little faces, knowing they are waiting for food, while you have almost nothing left to offer them. 💔🐱
This is our reality today.
Contributions have nearly stopped, and we have received only a very small amount of support, nowhere near enough to provide even one meal for our children and rescued cats today. Our funds are exhausted, our shelves are almost empty, and we have no resources left to purchase more food.
Things are becoming increasingly difficult. Food supplies are disappearing from local markets, essential items are becoming harder to find, and prices keep climbing beyond our reach. Limited availability and unfair market practices are making everyday necessities even harder to obtain.
Meanwhile, life in Gaza is becoming increasingly uncertain, with renewed military activity, airstrikes, and destruction, particularly in Gaza City. Families who were already struggling to secure their daily needs are now facing even greater uncertainty and hardship.
WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF FOOD, RESOURCES, AND TIME.
🙏 PLEASE, DON'T LET OUR APPEAL GO UNNOTICED.

There is no Ummah and there is no pan-Arab consciousness, and to think there is is a form of Orientalism. The reality is that *behind closed doors* Arab elites are fairly secular and their ideology is that of the modern Western nation state.
How's your 'democracy', that you got via your 'revolution', working out for you, Poles?

FWIW the opinion poll carried out by the Campaign 'Against' Anti-Semitism was a political poll used to produce a specific result and is not scientifically reliable. The real figure is about 60% (which is bad enough). The no. of explicitly anti-Zionist Jews in the UK is about 10%.
You can be an absolute libertarian about freedom of speech if you want, but, obviously there is, nor can there be, any such thing as ‘left-wing fascism’.
Deranged woke fundamentalists disrupt @jtworr’s lecture at Cambridge. They’re trying to drive the last bit of viewpoint diversity out of Cambridge.
University needs to discipline these students immediately and make it clear that what Adorno termed ‘left-wing fascism’ won’t be tolerated.
As with the harassment of Kathleen Stock, this is vital in order to protect Orr’s academic freedom.
If it fails to do so, Cambridge must be investigated by the @Oh_FFS_tweets. cc: @ComAcFreedom.

In the pro-Netanyahu demonstration today, one of his supporters threatens left-wing Jews: "We’ll beat you. You’re the first enemies we’ll send far, far away, to Birkenau, to Auschwitz, and we’ll rebuild Sobibor for you!" Israel 2026. The Jewish state.
The ironically entitled 'Labour' Party loathe, despise and fear the UK working class. What does this article even mean?
A return to free movement would show that Labour had abandoned its mission to win back disaffected working-class voters across post-industrial Britain. My latest. 👇 paulembery.com/p/dont-rip-th…

Soviet Union miners union also took 100 British miners in 1984 and their families to a health resort on the Black Sea in Soviet Georgia (Pitsunda, Abkhazia). ‘'It's a chance of a lifetime. I've never been further than Yarmouth before,' Margaret Ricalton, a miners' wife from Ashington’
In addition, Workers in Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria and so on collected money and resources and sent it to British strikers. Worth $1.138 million. Of course the British government seized most of it and made the British miners pay a heavy customs fee to get it.
“I think I’d starve without these food parcels”
#OnThisDay 1984. The first food parcels from the Soviet Union began to arrive to striking miners in Wigan.
