NEW from PBP: Carroll: DUP will pocket the wage and wreck the work People Before Profit MLA Gerry Carroll has responded to this evening’s statement from the DUP, about their continued engagement within the Executive. Carroll said: "Strip away the bluster and the DUP's message is simple: they'll keep their wages and ministerial cars, and spend what's left of this mandate obstructing anything that might materially improve people's lives.” “Gavin Robinson has admitted collapsing Stormont would hurt them at the ballot box. So instead his MLAs will sit on £67,200 a year – and over £105,000 for their ministers – and use the Petition of Concern to 'thwart' Assembly business.” “If a nurse, care worker or classroom assistant announced they'd spend the next six months deliberately not doing their job, they'd be sacked. Yet the DUP expects a pay packet for it.” "Look at their record before they even found this excuse. They used the Petition of Concern to block raising the age of criminal responsibility, so ten-year-olds can still be arrested and prosecuted - the lowest age in Europe. They've stalled the Good Jobs Bill for months and demanded the trade union rights be ripped out of it. They're lining up to obstruct the ban on conversion practices, which would protect young LGBTQ+ people from abuse. Let’s not forget this is also the party that blocked equal marriage with a Petition of Concern. Whether it’s children's rights, workers' rights or equal rights - they've opposed the lot.” "What exactly is left to obstruct? Pay deals for public sector workers? Tackling climate change? Proper investment in our health service? Building desperately-needed social housing? From where people in West Belfast are standing, the DUP has been thwarting progress for years. They've just finally put it in writing.” "Working-class people - nationalist, unionist and ‘other’ - are sick of being held hostage to this carve-up. They deserve representatives who turn up and fight for them - not politicians who take a fat pay packet to block their rights.”

At this point it's curtains for Carrick, hope I'm wrong. A new manager would get a bounce, and for six months might get things going. But then we knit will be back as it is now. Too many players comfortable on their massive salaries and not interested in @ManUtd fans.

'It's my job to hold the umbrella so thay the club stays dry. If that means I get wet that's ok, that's my job'. Michael Carrick in today's @ManUtd press conference. Whatever has happened he is convinced he is the right person to take the team forward.

The @premierleague should put a time frame in place for the Glazers/INEOS to either settle the debt at @ManUtd or sell the club outright to a party who can afford to run the club properly. It's a disgrace that legacy clubs are in a position where they could ultimately end up bust

If, and considering that it is very early in the season, @ManUtd had to remove Carrick as head coach, who would be the one name that could drag the club back to the top.

Are there positives to take from Sunday's game against Everton? I don't think there are. @ManUtd were slow, painful to watch against a team that had very little ambition to win the game. Three shots on target is a poor outcome from that forward line.

There is a case, if sporting athletes have to endure drug testing, then so should officials right to the top of the organisations involved in sport. I'd make that circle larger and insist that all politicians are randomly drug tested.

Masks at Halloween will be banned by unionism.. FFS
Imagine a unionist leader was posing with masked men, and masked children. Carla Lockhart MP was lambasted because someone had a face covering at Scarva, but different standards apply to the morally delinquent republican movement. This is perfect example of the double standards which exist, in which IRA terrorism is romanticised and the media happily play along. Most importantly, this is why no unionist should ever be ever apologising or pandering, whether that be about bonfires, flags, parades or anything else. We owe these people nothing. If we find out that the #France team had a massive fight in the dressing room before the game, I wouldn't be surprised.

Is it time "we forgot the past" and support England in the World Cup semi-final? #TonightVMTV Journalist Simon Tierney thinks we should. #TonightVMTV

In order to maximise the ad-buy revenue during the #WorldCup @FIFAcom could, with the official broadcaster, make for quarters a thing at their tournament in order to facilitate it. FIFA would be able to negotiate a share in the extra revenue created going forward.
The half-time break at the World Cup final is expected to be around 30 minutes long in order to accommodate Fifa’s star-studded show — breaching the maximum time of 15 minutes permitted under the Laws of the Game thetimes.com/sport/football/…

SDLP on Nolan say “expressions of hate” will be banned in a “New Ireland”. Obviously, nationalists will decide what “hate” means (i.e, anything they don’t like). Are they banning Kneecap and the west Belfast festivals ‘Rebel’ night?
