I really have tried to give X the benefit of the doubt and stuck with it, but I really can’t be doing with reading this toxic trash anymore. I have a lovely life and I intend to spend my time more productively. Byeeeee!
Wonderful advice for the thousands of families going through this.
IF I GET DEMENTIA…..
I’d like my family to hang this wish list up on the wall where I live. I want them to remember these things.
1a. Every time you enter the room announce yourself. “Hi Dad - it’s Amanda.”
NEVER ask- Do you know who I am??? That causes anxiety.
• If I get dementia, I want my friends and family to embrace my reality.
• If I think my spouse is still alive, or if I think we’re visiting my parents for dinner, let me believe those things. I’ll be much happier for it.
• If I get dementia, don’t argue with me about what is true for me versus what is true for you.
• If I get dementia, and I am not sure who you are, do not take it personally. My timeline is confusing to me.
• If I get dementia, and can no longer use utensils, do not start feeding me. Instead, switch me to a finger-food diet, and see if I can still feed myself.
• If I get dementia, and I am sad or anxious, hold my hand and listen. Do not tell me that my feelings are unfounded.
• If I get dementia, I don’t want to be treated like a child. Talk to me like the adult that I am.
• If I get dementia, I still want to enjoy the things that I’ve always enjoyed. Help me find a way to exercise, read, and visit with friends.
• If I get dementia, ask me to tell you a story from my past.
• If I get dementia, and I become agitated, take the time to figure out what is bothering me.
• If I get dementia, treat me the way that you would want to be treated.
• If I get dementia, make sure that there are plenty of snacks for me in the house. Even now if I don’t eat I get angry, and if I have dementia, I may have trouble explaining what I need.
• If I get dementia, don’t talk about me as if I’m not in the room.
• If I get dementia, don’t feel guilty if you cannot care for me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It’s not your fault, and you’ve done your best. Find someone who can help you, or choose a great new place for me to live. With a bus and activities!!
• If I get dementia, and I live in a dementia care community, please visit me often.
• If I get dementia, don’t act frustrated if I mix up names, events, or places.
Take a deep breath. It’s not my fault.
• If I get dementia, make sure I always have my favorite music playing within earshot.
• If I get dementia, and I like to pick up items and carry them around, help me return those items to their original place.
• If I get dementia, don’t exclude me from parties and family gatherings.
• If I get dementia, know that I still like receiving hugs or handshakes.
• If I get dementia, remember that I am still the person you know and love.”
ᴄᴏᴘʏ ᴀɴᴅ ᴘᴀsᴛᴇ in Honor of someone you know or knew who has dementia. In Honor of all those I know and love and lost who are fighting Dementia/Alzheimer’s.

Representation in Elmbridge will go from 56 borough and county councillors to just 16. Replicated across Surrey. Removing power from the people and reducing representation. Workload will mean only retired privileged people can afford to stand for council. Sad day for democracy.
Government announces two new councils for Surrey. The county’s existing twelve councils will be replaced by two new unitary councils, creating a simpler and more efficient system for delivering all local government services across the county. More info at ow.ly/Cgfk50Xj3qO
Is @BBCNewsnight are going to discuss Royal finances in #PrinceAndrew please get a panellist who knows the subject, not an ill-informed MP and historian, both crying ‘lack of transparency’ when all the figures are in the public domain if you bother to look.
We’ve discovered that our English Pointer, the gorgeous Lola, is afraid of bridges. I didn’t know that was a thing! Had to be carried across 🙄 Bless!

Spotted any of these new signs that have gone up in #Esher to encourage everyone to do the right thing and bin their gum? The newly cleansed streets and signs have been made possible thanks to a grant from the #ChewingGumTaskForce @ElmbridgeBC

Another good night on #strictly but another night when countless fans around the country have been unable vote because @bbcstrictly has removed phone voting, discriminating against the 000s who are digitally disenfranchised. @bbc @ClaudiaWinkle @TessDaly

I love the Repair Cafe too and it was great to have them at the #NatureandClimateFestival last week. It’s such a great idea. 💚
It's International Repair Day and I loved visiting Walton Repair Café and their talented team of volunteers. Toasters, coffee machines, lamps, bikes being given a new lease of life instead of sending them to landfill.
This is what practical sustainability looks like in action - and saves you money!
The Repair Cafe meets on the second Saturday of the month from 10:00am to 1:00pm at Walton Centre for the Community.

Pigeon is impressed to find himself featured in my book Live Life Better - a handbook for sustainable living. @SerenaHassan4
And she possibly wants to vote on #Strictly too @bbcstrictly . I’m going to post about this every week when I’m around. It’s shameful that the publicly-funded @BBC has turned its back on the digitally-disenfranchised, who number more than you realise.
I have an elderly friend who is in her 80s.
She lives in Cornwall.
Mary is very switched on but she struggles with new technology a bit - especially parking apps.
All she wants to do is put her car in a space for a couple of hours and pay.
She does not want to sign up for a new app.
She does not want to verify her device.
She does not want to save her credit card information.
She does not want to figure out why the app thinks she is in Devon and cannot geolocate the car park she is standing in.
She wants to take a few coins and put them in a machine and do her shopping/meet her friends. Now, she finds excuses not to meet friends or shop because she is so worried about the parking situation.
It is a disgrace that parking has become so discriminatory and this is just the start. When Digital ID is introduced, her whole world will feel like this.

Just watched #Strictly2025 for first time this year. I’m appalled there’s no phone voting. Vast numbers of people are digitally excluded for some reason, especially many elderly people for whom Strictly is a TV highlight . Really thoughtless from @bbcstrictly
The wonderful accolades to the late Dame Patricia Routledge rightly praise her portrayal of Hyacinth Bucket but seeing her bring the brilliant Kitty to life (scripted by Victoria Wood) was always an absolute joy. Majestic!
This was one of the first books I remember being read to us at infant school. I can still remember our teacher screwing up her face and saying ‘’ere! Oos been chuckin dirt?’ That must be about 57 years ago!
