I don't understand why this keeps happening. Why are these vehicles left so unprotected and they clearly have defense systems, like RWS?

Something weird about me is that for quite some time I actually thought World War I/The Great War lasted from 1911 to 1918.
Technically, I'm not wrong, considering the Italo-Turkish War and the Balkan Wars were major conflicts leading to WW1 (and other major ongoing global wars)
