APA has floated a working target of 2029 for a DSM-6 and it may be a continuous updated digital model renamed the Diagnostic & Scientific Manual
Hopefully not written by AI and hopefully not still aimlessly searching for biomarkers

Psychiatry would be better off if we stuck with DSM-III because each change leads to massive overdiagnosis.
When we finished DSM-IV, I
was proud we had made so few changes- but those we did make (in Autism, ADHD, Bipolar) all led to harmful fads.
DSM-5 was a disaster of dumb changes & there's absolutely no excuse for a DSM-6.
DSM-6 is a grift/mistake whose only real purpose is publishing profits for Am Psychiatric Assoc.
Changing its name from 'Diagnostic & Statistical Manual' to 'Diagnostic & Scientific Manual' is putting lipstick on a pig.
Giant leaps in neuroscience during past 50 yrs have had absolutely no impact on diagnosis.
Is self-diagnosis becoming a mental health problem?
MH information on social media can help people recognise genuine difficulties. But a few symptoms don't necessarily establish diagnosis. Can we improve MH literacy without encouraging the pathologising of everyday experiences?
