Today Israeli authorities barred me and other European elected representatives from entering the West Bank to meet Palestinian students and civil society leaders, as part of a @ProgIntl delegation. We knew that by crossing into the occupied Palestinian territories, we risked being detained, interrogated and turned away by Israeli authorities. And that, alas, is exactly what happened. For more than eight hours, we were held, interrogated and made to feel as though we had done something wrong simply by attempting to enter. The simple truth is we had done nothing wrong. We went to show our support for the Palestinian people and highlight the terrible injustice and violence being perpetrated against them. We want to ensure that people back home do not look away from the reality of what is happening. Ultimately, we went to show solidarity. But we left with an even greater determination to speak out. We will not be silenced, and we will not look away. None of us should.

This is the moment Channel 4 News Foreign Affairs Correspondent Secunder Kermani was charged at by a group of Israeli settlers in the Occupied West Bank. The settlers have laid siege to a Palestinian home, while nearby Israeli soldiers keep watch but do not intervene. Violent attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank have risen dramatically over the past two years, while Israel's government has approved a record number of new settlements.

Must-watch from Oborne, as ever.
The Butcher of Beirut – Israel’s alternative to Netanyahu. Peter Oborne – just returned from almost a month in the Occupied Territories – came into the Double Down Newswatch studio to talk about the Israeli election, Britain’s feeble surrender to the Israelis over the consulate in East Jerusalem and the ongoing horror in the West Bank and Israeli prisons. A grim snapshot of Palestinian life in the West Bank - that we witnessed over a week: - Settlers besieging a family in their own home - Israeli authorities demolishing Palestinian properties - Settlers repeatedly attacking farmers, even beating to death more than a dozen lambs - Israeli soldiers blocking the delivery of water to an isolated community Watch our full report here: youtu.be/lhRXrmg4_6M?is=NgRj…

Forget the euphoria of Britain's change of policy on settlements. Palestinians, totally abandoned by the international community, are being ethnically cleansed in occupied east Jerusalem. I report for Middle East Eye on house demolitions in Al Bustan: middleeasteye.net/opinion/we…

The Bell Report really is a shocker.
The government's antisemitism in schools report is a travesty. It's riddled with errors, distortions and contradictions. And it will be used to silence people over Palestine 👇 zeteo.uk/p/debunked-the-anti…

Good on Havant. Don't be cowed.
🟢 New: Havant Green Group is the latest to say they won’t be asking the party leadership to reject the ZIR motion. Group leader Netty Shepard says she recognises that the wording of the motion is “problematic for some and is creating division and fear” but the accusation that the motion is anti-semitic is unfounded. She also says it was a democratic vote so she can’t ask the leadership to do something that “is not in their power”. In a letter to the Havant Labour leader she said: “As a group we welcomed Andy Burnham's call for a different kind of politics, one based on problem solving, not point scoring. It would be truly ironic if the Labour Party National Executive Committee insist that you leave this coalition over a political point that the Green Group in Havant have no control over. “I believe we have more in common than divides us and I ask you to continue to work with Havant Greens. We value you as colleagues and I believe you value us too.”

That is so true if only they would push the propaganda away and see through all the lies they would be able to realise that war is the enemy of the people all of the time
