It is absurd to me that people cite the views of fiction writers as somehow dispositive. Their universe is fictional! They made it up!

One development recently is that if you see any right wing posters who are excited for the Stephen Miller position, it's because they believe that this is true, they're owed this are of history, what happened was a terrible anomaly, and there's no way they could be unpopular.
The simple truth is that alt-righters and special NRx weirdos thought that after 2024 they'd get to rule forever by simple virtue of being reactionaries, because they really in their hearts believed in an arc of history that favored them. Their downfall was being too ideological.

There are a lot of leftists who just idolize and romanticize the drudgery of labor. Ironically, Marx was extremely against this and envisioned a future where tech got so good that there would be very little "socially necessary labor"
I can kinda understand the AI thing, and I get the datacenter thing if I squint my eyes at it, but why tf do leftists also claim to hate Waymo?

Why did the left write AI off as hype? @GarrisonLovely: deference to the stochastic parrots PhDs, pattern-matching to crypto and the metaverse, and a "comforting story." The capitalist goal, he says: "take the share of returns to capital to 100% and labor to 0."

Excited for the world to realize that almost all the software we use is written with ai now lol
is there even any proof the discord recode is using vibecoding? genuinely asking here. cuz to my knowledge didnt they try out rust before years ago? this just feels like they're returning to their roots a little bit

I wonder what percentage of the people who donated to their crowdfunding campaign actually watched this

Artist secret: If you see an artist with a loose style and they suddenly draw something intricate and detailed... it's likely that they're bad at drawing the thing. If they were more fluent, they could simplify the style.

It cannot be overstated how deeply "lolcow" culture is built on people who are just as if not more embarrassing than their subjects. Deeply socially awkward people who want you to look at other people so that you don't look at them. And they don't have to look at themselves.

Actual software engineer here. Vibe coding is when you use AI to write software without manually reviewing every single line of code. Instead, you rely on empirical tests, formal verification, and static analysis to verify that your code is correct. Rewrites like the Discord rewrite are prime targets for vibe coding because you can easily verify them. Just take the old code, run it with a ton of random inputs (this is called fuzzing), and compare the output with the new code. Your rewrite is done when the output is always the same. As for how you know it's vibe coded? Everything is vibe coded these days. Software engineers don't write code by hand anymore. Instead, we herd clankers writing code.
Wtf does Vibecoded mean and how are ppl catching that "THE NEW DISCORD WILL BE VIBE CODED" WHERE ARE WE GETTING THIS INFO HELP
