Can you imagine if kids who are getting multiple Covid infections now seem okay but then start developing serious issues 40 years later, like kids with polio did?

The most recent colleague to tell me that I should stop wearing a mask called in sick last week with 'the worst cold I've ever had'. He had to go to hospital last night with breathing difficulties.
His earlier description of symptoms sounded exactly like covid, not a cold.

In May 2025, 15-year-old Kylie Arellano vanished from her family's home in Garden City, Utah.
For more than 500 days, there was no trace of her.
All this time, Kylie was held captive in the basement of Adam Hunter Harmel, a 39-year-old man she had met online.
After picking her up in his car, Adam threw her phone into a river and drove her to his home in Oregon. Once inside, he told her she wasn't allowed to leave.
For the next 17 months, he allegedly beat and sexually abused Kylie, even forcing her to pull off her own braces with pliers to make her harder to identify.
To keep her occupied, Adam gave her a phone without cellular data, but one that could still connect to Wi-Fi. He was sure it wouldn't be enough for her to get help.
What he didn't realize was that one of the games on it, Among Us, had a live chat that connected players with strangers around the world.
In one of those chats, Kylie started talking with another young player. They moved their conversation to another app, where she revealed her real name and said she was being held against her will in Oregon.
Instead of ignoring the message, the child told a parent, who alerted the FBI.
On November 1, 2026, police rescued Kylie after 520 days in the dark. Her kidnapper was arrested during a traffic stop in Ontario.
