In a world where 'free trade' translates into 'let Elon Musk become richer on the back of all others', free trade with no proper strings - especially in a region suffering quick degradation led by agroindustry - with central EU contribution, should raise extreme concern, not joy.
We welcome the conclusion of negotiations on the #Mercosur Agreement.
We are creating the largest free trade zone in the world, with an additional market of 260 million potential consumers of European goods.
It is a win-win for European and South American countries.
In a paper led by Yves Zinngrebe we analyzed how Europe can take greater responsibility for its huge environmental (and socioeconomic) global impacts.

We'll need to study the details, but it seems the new agreement is a big step in the wrong direction.

🐺@COPACOGECA has long advocated for recognition of the real challenges posed by wolf populations and the urgent need for action. We are glad to see the 🇪🇺 institutions listening to the needs of farmers and rural dwellers despite the many pressures from those who often don't have to deal with the consequences of attacks.
We now look forward to the final adoption of this proposal on March 7⃣, 2025, and to working closely with EU institutions on the forthcoming delegated act.
