Great to see that my local MP @SarahGreenLD attended this talk. It's imperative that oversight of @HMRCgovuk is drastically overhauled. It's equally critical that we see some momentum behind a #TaxpayerBillOfRights to protect taxpayers from tyranny @loanchargeAPPG @taxwatch

#HMRC are, and have been for some time, completely out of control. Whether it’s the #LoanChargeScandal, #IR35, or snooping into wealthy people’s lives, their overreach is totally unchecked by Government.
🚨NEW: HMRC's letter to wealthy Britons demanding detailed information about their financial arrangements has been revealed

#loanchargescandal victims are very familiar with the type of phrasing used by their nudge unit in their 'friendly letters. If I have any advice, I'd suggest never volunteering information to HMRC unless you are legally obliged to do so. #loancharge #loanchargesuicides
Replying to @GBPolitcs
Strictly it doesn't "demand" information but it does propose a suspiciously undocumented phishing trip. Truly sinister, down to the mawkish phraseology (ubiquitous in the post-competence YooKay).

This letter could have been drafted much better. It could have clearly set out that it was a fully voluntary arrangement. It could have confirmed that lack of compliance does not increase the chance of enquiry, but it is likely to reduce the severity and depth as HMRC would be more familiar with your situation. It could have explained the positive steps HMRC is taking to improve taxpayers' experience when enquiries do arise. But instead the choices made by the draftsman imply a sword of Damocles-style "comply or else" situation. That's bad for our tax system, and an opportunity missed. thetimes.com/money/tax/artic…

To everyone who has sent me kind messages and wished me well following my collapse after giving evidence to the Loan Charge APPG on behalf of pension fraud victims, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your kindness means more than words can say. I remain determined to fight for justice, recognition and accountability for victims who have lost so much through no fault of their own. Our voices must be heard, our suffering must be acknowledged, and victims must never be forgotten. Thank you for your support, your courage and your solidarity. ❤️ Sue Flood

"Fail to pay", according to whom? Loan Charge victims already know that HMRC cannot be trusted to tell the truth. This is a dangerous tool in the hand of an out of control organisation that hasn't passed an audit for 20+ years. #loanchargescandal #loancharge #loanchargesuicides

xitter.cf/loanchargeAPPG/status/… 🔥😟BREAKING NEWS - So sad to learn that @SueFlood52, who was a fellow guest speaker at the Loan Charge and Taxpayer Fairness APPG in Westminster on Tuesday 20 October, collapsed in hospital at 2am the following morning. Sue is a victim of the @ArkScandal and when she made her presentation to the APPG, the pain and strain in her voice was so evident to every one of us in the room. But she soldiered on to complete her testimony, and her submission will be available on the APPG website. @jeffprestridge @journomadeleine @taxwatch @loanchargeAPPG @ChristianJMay @deboraharthurs @CDP1882 @TaxJusticeUK
Today we have an APPG meeting ‘#TaxpayerFairness: Evidence related to #HMRC unfair treatment of taxpayers’ on with several shocking cases. We look forward to hearing from @TheRising_Moon @GabrielleO61890 @SueFlood52 @margaretsnowdon 2-3pm room 391 PCH

Loan Charge victims tried to warn the general public about HMRC overreach and using retrospective legislation (with no right of appeal) to hide their blushes, now they're coming for your bank accounts. What will it take for the citizens to tell them to GTF?! #loanchargescandal

The Hillsborough Law was supposed to hold public officials accountable for deliberately misleading the public! Only … MPs and peers have EXCLUDED themselves from the new law when acting as public officials! So the people who made the law have ensured the law doesn’t apply to them. Only to the little people. So what’s the point of it?
The House of Lords is about to pass the Hillsborough Law without including themselves. Peers could mislead the public on TV and break no law. Ask me in the comments how you can help.

Government ministers: yes. MPs: nope. Peers: nope. The Prime Minister is covered. Backbench MPs and peers aren't. Help me change it before it becomes law: share this.

A nurse who lies to the public could go to prison. An MP who says the same words won't. Ministers, police and civil servants are covered. Backbench MPs and peers aren't. Send this to someone who needs to see it.

A message to every member of the House of Lords. You asked me not to go to the press. I'm doing it anyway, because I'm trying to help you. If you criminalise lying to the public for everyone apart from yourselves, public trust in Parliament will be decimated.

Omg ..Sue I hope youre ok..This just goes to show the pressure put on victims by HMRC who let's face it allowed this nightmare to happen without any accountability or apology and are STILL handing out blame and allowing good, decent and honest people to suffer. Has to be shared

In 25 years, #HMRC has been transformed from a public body with Area Offices, with Staff you could approach, to an impenetrable faceless centralised HQ relying on computer submissions, virtually incapable of handling non computerised correspondence. @HMRCgovuk @JohnHealey_MP

Everyone should read this.
1/3 Lying to the public is about to become a crime in the UK. Ministers, civil servants, police, the military: all covered by the new Hillsborough Law. Guess who isn't? The people writing it.

The Churchill Knight hearing is off. It was a wider test of the MSC rules John Healey helped bring in in 2007. On Wednesday he delivers his first Budget. He reportedly told an adviser, in private, that they would be “very narrowly applied and only in very specific circumstances.” Contractors in the cases are already sharing what they make of the hearing and the letters. Tyra Ali, a former HMRC official and consultancy manager at Markel Tax, gives her thoughts exclusively to ContractorUK. contractoruk.com/news/church…
