No other successful NHL team is this rigid about line combos like the Jets are with the top line. It's time to change the narrative. The team can't survive on one unit trying to carry 4 lines.
Asked #NHLJets coach Scott Arniel if they’ve had talks about breaking up the top line with only 6 goals in 4 games as a team:
He cracks a bit of a smile and says: “Same old question yep. Will we split them up…”
“You know what I've talked to those two, and we’re 20th right now in scoring at five on five, and we're I think ninth in five on five against. So I'm not in panic mode here, but we're in five straight (losses). We've been in nine one goal games. So yes, I do need it. I like to tinker a little bit now that Mercer is here. I haven't had him. That was one game for him. So I’d like to tinker with some other lines first before I kind of go down that road.”
