Michelle and I are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife, Michele. Rob’s achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen. But beneath all of the stories he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people—and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into action. Together, he and his wife lived lives defined by purpose. They will be remembered for the values they championed and the countless people they inspired. We send our deepest condolences to all who loved them.
Appalling. Even for him.
As the film world and people of good taste around the world mourn the sudden death of legendary director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer, President Donald Trump jumped to make the apparent double homicide about himself.

This is a damn lie. They stopped in Qatar. He was vetted to even work for the CIA in Afghanistan. He as vetted to get asylum. These are lies to spread racism and hate to an entire community. One man did this. ONE! Let’s find out why before we attack thousands of innocent people.

My God.
This @WSJ piece on Trump, Witkoff and Kushner's venality for Russian business deals from which they will personally profit at the price of selling Ukraine into Russian slavery and despair is devastating and ugly.

This is a highly unusual order from a Secretary of Defense, and it’s almost certainly a war crime.
In the strike in question, two people survived and were clinging to the side of the ruined boat, and a second mission was spun up to execute them.
Exclusive: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gave an order to “kill everybody” in the first strike on suspected drug boats in the Caribbean. After two men survived, the mission commander ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions, according to two sources.

Murder.
Textbook war crime/extrajudicial killing

This would be a war crime even if there were an actual war and these people were actual combatants, which there isn't and they weren't.
It's unquestionably an unlawful homicide under any form of law you wish to apply: military or civilian, domestic or international, federal or state.
Flat-out murder by any reasonable definition you can come up with.

Dear @SecWar: I read the classified legal memo. Nothing in the memo, or military law, authorizes a second kinetic strike against defenseless survivors. If the reports are true, then a war crime was committed.
Also, there is generally no statute of limitations for war crimes.
As usual, the fake news is delivering more fabricated, inflammatory, and derogatory reporting to discredit our incredible warriors fighting to protect the homeland.
As we’ve said from the beginning, and in every statement, these highly effective strikes are specifically intended to be “lethal, kinetic strikes.” The declared intent is to stop lethal drugs, destroy narco-boats, and kill the narco-terrorists who are poisoning the American people. Every trafficker we kill is affiliated with a Designated Terrorist Organization.
The Biden administration preferred the kid gloves approach, allowing millions of people — including dangerous cartels and unvetted Afghans — to flood our communities with drugs and violence. The Trump administration has sealed the border and gone on offense against narco-terrorists. Biden coddled terrorists, we kill them.
Our current operations in the Caribbean are lawful under both U.S. and international law, with all actions in compliance with the law of armed conflict—and approved by the best military and civilian lawyers, up and down the chain of command.
Our warriors in SOUTHCOM put their lives on the line every day to protect the Homeland from narco-terrorists — and I will ALWAYS have their back.

To be clear…. The US would have been obligated to RESCUE the stranded individuals not murder them.
The commander who gave the order is probably really nervous right now… everyone should be held accountable

Hegseth ordered the military to murder defenseless survivors who could’ve easily been saved, arrested, and tried.
Now he’s trying to court martial a Senator for merely reminding the military they’re not obligated to follow illegal orders.

Imagine how frightened he is that he ordered the military to engage in the cost and risk of a flyover
An emotional press conference involving victims of Epstein was drowned out briefly due to a noisy flyover Trump had organized that coincided with the event.
