Why is Booker getting paid what he gets paid?
Worth 2 mins of your time to listen. Well said Jimmy 👏🏻
Worth two minutes of your time to hear Jimmy Rogers lay bare one of the main ills facing big-time college sports and the athletes themselves.
Iowa State Daily's @henry_annen asked Rogers what he needs from new AD Jared Benko to elevate Iowa State football.
Good stuff.
You know what 95% of these QB’s have in common? They have all transferred to several different HS & colleges. Unfortunately when things get tough the answer isn’t always to just move down the road. Maybe work harder at where u r at.

The Rays’ formula for winning baseball:
• MLB’s lowest strikeout rate (18.6%)
• AL-best batting average
• AL-best stolen base total
Now they’re AL champions and heading to the World Series.
They’re proof you don’t have to out-slug everyone to win. Put the ball in play, run the bases and make the other team defend.

Total runs scored:
2006: 23,599 runs
2016: 21,744 runs
2026: 21,769 runs
Check out the XBH totals per year other than the HR.
So with with less homers and more singles, doubles, and triples, there were 1,830 more runs scored 20 years ago.
Yes pitchers are better, but 9000 strikeouts better?

Torey deserves Manager of the Year for dragging a mediocre roster all the way to a meaningful Game 162. What he accomplished with this team is impressive. No Ace, makeshift bullpen, your “leader” is a cancer. Well done this year Torey 👏🏻
The Diamondbacks rewarded mediocrity by extending Torey Lovullo despite his losing record and questionable game management. azcentral.com/story/sports/m…

The radar gun readings are a bit hot….. Henriquez’s fastball doesn’t look 101-103 mph.
Looks like higher 90s
I hate that today’s fans just can’t see or understand that the radar reading is 3 or more mph faster than 10-15 years ago.
When I played we understood that the older guns were slower. Why can’t this generation?

Hi. We are the Rays, Guardians and Brewers. We play the game the right way. With a runner on 2b and zero outs, we hit behind the runner. We bunt, steal and take what the game gives us. We do not strike out like other teams. We don’t care about home runs, overvalue analytics, etc. We care about baseball. We care about winning. We can beat anyone despite our payroll. Cheers.

Arizona is the only program to reach both a Final Four and the College World Series in the last two years. We may not have the biggest resources, but we have the right people: Coach Brennan is 10–2 in the last 12, Chip Hale is an Arizona guy, Brennan was a Wildcat GA and his wife went to Zona, and Tommy Lloyd loves this place. Arizona is built on people who believe in Arizona. 🐻⬇️

Between the Brewers and the Rays they’re setting an example to everyone else. They’re doing it without money, with fundamentals, defense, pitching and a great manager and pitching coach to lead the guys.

Breaking: the Arizona Cardinals are finalizing a deal to trade WR Marvin Harrison, sources tell me and @RapSheet.
The team informed Harrison this morning that he will be inactive for Sunday’s game vs Detroit as details of the trade are finalized.
Windhorst ain’t wrong it’s just facts. Suns homer fans won’t agree tho cuz they r in denial.
“Devin Booker is being paid like he’s a top 10 player, and he hasn’t been a top 10 player these last couple years.”

At some point, baseball has to get back to valuing ballplayers and not just numbers on a screen. Give me the Freddie Freemans, the Buster Poseys, Hunter Pences, Pablo Sandovals, Michael Youngs, Ian Kinslers of the world. Guys who just flat out know how to play the game. Everyone wants to talk launch angle and exit velo, but what happened to valuing a quality at bat?” The 9-pitch battle that might end in an out, but forces a pitcher to show everything he’s got.
The guy who hits behind the runner, takes what’s given, or just refuses to give a pitcher an easy inning. Those at-bats might not look sexy in the box score, but they show up in the 7th, 8th, and 9th. Some of these dudes could absolutely leave the yard too. That’s the point. They weren’t one-dimensional. Somewhere along the way, we confused measurable tools with knowing how to win baseball games.
I’m not against analytics or hitting the ball hard, but there is an art to winning that you can’t fully measure. We need more guys who know how to play baseball, not just hitters, not just athletes, ballplayers. And I promise you, those dudes never go out of style
