i'm still not over this btw
unfathomably stupid decision to make when you've converted probably less than 1% of Arc's user base to Dia because it's objectively just a bad product
now this company just falls into irrelevance and everyone else goes back to chrome or something
We've decided to sunset Arc on December 22, 2026.
That's not an easy sentence to write. We spent years building Arc and celebrating each and every release along the way: we have so much pride and love for what we made alongside the Arc community.
Our priority is to deliver best-in-class security for our members. Keeping a browser secure takes constant, dedicated work that is only increasing in the age of AI. Dia was built from the ground up to meet today’s security standards, so that's where our engineering and security teams will focus moving forward.
We've worked to make switching to @diabrowser as easy as possible for Arc members. Here's how:
· Your passwords, bookmarks, extensions and history come over to Dia seamlessly.
· Spaces, Folders, and Tab Groups are in Dia and import over with your data intact.
· Dia now surpasses Arc benchmarks in stability, speed, and security.
· The browser features you use in Arc are free in Dia, and the AI is optional.
Thank you for using Arc, for pushing us to make it better, and for building alongside us. The team that made Arc is the same team behind Dia, and some of our most ambitious work is just ahead. We'd love for you to be there with us when it lands.
i lowkey thought this was a collage the entire day today until i saw another angle of the stage

If Michelangelo was around today, how would he design a contemporary typeface?
Introducing Michelangelus, a contemporary serif shaped by the artist’s manuscripts, gestures, and monumental artwork.

The AI maximalists say that we need AI to do all the jobs so that we can be freed to do more meaningful things like make art and read to our children. But then they also want AI to make art and read to our children. So what exactly will be left for humans to do? The answer, though they won’t admit it, is that we get to be passive consumers sitting around slack jawed staring at screens until we die. That’s the only form of happiness these people can conceive of. It’s all any of us should want, as far as they’re concerned.
i'm not saying it's not weird to be abusive towards robots but also this continues to solidify the idea that anthropic employees see claude as conscious and are okay with enslaving said consciousness but not okay with people bullying it for being stupid
dude are you serious
⚠️ Hurricane Rachel Headed for Southern California.
The NHC has extended Hurricane Rachel’s forecast cone into far Southern California. Forecasting now to move over the U.S.–Mexico border as a weak tropical storm or depression this weekend.
What it means for Orange County:
🌊 Coastal Impacts: Southerly swell bringing 5-6ft surf. Coastal flood advisory active through Friday afternoon for low-lying beaches.
🌧️ Rain Potential: Remnant moisture could bring 2-3 inches of rain across SoCal between Saturday and Sunday.
🌡️ Heat Relief: Cloud cover breaks our brutal October heat wave, dropping temperatures by 20+ degrees by the weekend.

okay so everyone is clowning on this guy and I absolutely agree with that point but I felt it would be an interesting take to share my POV as someone who is a CS major and generally consider myself to be pretty tech literate, a thread:
This is my thesis: no one uses AI. I repeat, absolutely no one. We live in a bubble.
Even among my friends who pay for it, when I ask them to open ChatGPT and show me their queries, it’s the same handful of basic things.
Most don’t even know they can upload a photo and ask questions about it. Connecting Gmail so an agent can read and send emails blows their minds. An agent opening a browser and checking them into a flight? They’ve never even heard of it.
The massive challenge right now is adoption, and then getting people who already signed up to actually use what they’re paying for. Most have absolutely zero clue what’s possible.
Imagine the compute shortage when everyone starts using AI like the top 1% of users do today.
