Scientists have determined the highest-resolution protein structure obtained to date.
Using advanced X-ray crystallography at EMBL Hamburg's P14 beamline, the team solved the structure of an archaeal protein at an astonishing 0.43 Ångström resolution.

צוותי המחקר של פרופ׳ מורן רובינשטיין ופרופ׳ קרן אברהם, פיתחו מודל עכברי חדש המאפשר למצוא תרופות למחלה נדירה שרק 40 בני אדם חולים בה בעולם
חוקרות מהפקולטה ע״ש גריי למדעי הרפואה והבריאות באוניברסיטת תל אביב פיתחו מודל עכברי חדש, המחקה באופן מדויק מחלה גנטית נדירה וקטלנית הנגרמת ממוטציה בגן GRIN2D. מדובר במחלה נדירה במיוחד, שכיום ידועים רק כ־40 חולים בה ברחבי העולם.
המודל שפותח מעניק לחוקרות ולחוקרים אפשרות לחקור לעומק את מאפייני המחלה, ולבחון שורה של תרופות וטיפולים גנטיים שעשויים להעניק תקווה לילדים החולים ולמשפחותיהם.
את המחקר הובילו פרופ' מורן רובינשטיין ופרופ' קרן אברהם, דיקנית הפקולטה.
עוד השתתפו במחקר: מור ים, ג'ולן נאסיר, דניאל גלבר, שיר קווין, רוני גל, מור עובדיה, מור בורדייניק-כהן, ועדן פלד – כולן מהפקולטה ע״ש גריי למדעי הרפואה והבריאות באוניברסיטת תל אביב או מבית ספר סגול למדעי המוח.
כמו כן, השתתפו במחקר ד"ר מורן הויזמן-קדם ופרופ' אביבה פתאל-ולבסקי מהמכון לנוירולוגיה של הילד, בית חולים דנה דואק, המרכז הרפואי תל אביב.
המחקר נערך בשיתוף פעולה עם פרופ' כריסטופר מקינסון ופרופ' וויין פרנקל מאוניברסיטת קולומביה שבארצות הברית.
