At 6, his childhood friend lost her hand. 15 years later, she was still waiting. Not because science couldn’t help, but because help was too expensive, too fragile, too inaccessible. Prosthetic hands cost up to ₹25 lakh. They break. They lack control. And for most people, they remain out of reach. So Ansh Mishra decided to change that. Over the next 2 years, he built 15 prototypes, failing, fixing, starting over, until he created something that could actually make a difference. A bionic hand that costs 90% less. That responds to brain signals. That can grasp objects in under a second. That can lift up to 20 kg. That can even restore a sense of touch. For the first time, technology didn’t feel distant. It felt possible. Today, his innovation, built for people often left behind, has been recognised among the top ideas in Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2025, out of 20,000 entries, with support from George Mason University. But for him, this was never just about innovation. It was about one question that stayed with him for years — why should something as basic as a hand be a privilege?
