Anything can happen when no one can share news of what's happening. And anything can be said about it later.
Just in: France's Prime Minister asked telecom companies to prepare to block social media platforms. "I wish to have the ability to temporarily suspend access to these services in case of a repeat of urban violence," he wrote. @blast news broke the story.

This is actually a condescending view of working-class people. I grew up in a working-class immigrant family and we ate at Red Lobster and The Cheesecake Factory for "fancy nights out." But even we understood that the White House should not look like the inside of a Red Lobster. Working-class people are not culturally illiterate just because their experiences are shaped by their limited means.
Does Obama not understand that to most Americans the Cheesecake Factory is a very nice and fancy restaurant?

Budgens is the invisible supermarket. They don’t even need to advertise it. They know how good they are. It’s unbelievable. Go.

Every year the same. Clocks go back - *time itself* manipulated- ‘for farmer’. And every year the farmer next door stays in bed. Luxuriating in slumber; delighting in nod; feasting on lethargy. His fields? Fallow. His livestock unattended; his fine machines rusting. RISE MAN! Sew, gather *make hay*

I want a disheveled Gary Oldman delivering one of his beloved Beckett monologues (with a theme tune sung by Mick Jagger doing the world’s worst Mick Jagger impression) and occasionally firing Chekhov’s pistol at Hugo Weaving while swearing in a performatively off-the-cuff way.

I *love* Swiss Cottage. Insanely, thrillingly- almost erotically- boring.

Seriously Partridge night last night. Drove my eldest to a party in Diss. No point driving back home as over an hour away and by the time I get back I’d need to turn around. Solitary curry. sheer 1987 in every regard. Lamb tikka vindaloo; saag; keema naan. Only customer. Sideways rain

Another East German classic for dinner last night: Karlsbader Schnitte. Toast with tomato paste, ham, sliced gherkins and cheese. Then Worcester Sauce (versions of which were produced in the GDR) on top. Washed down with "Grüne Wiese" (Green Meadow): Blue Curacao & orange juice.

And how - exactly- does burning buildings improve the state of classrooms? Smug idiocy.
to anyone breathless over burning belleépoqueslop: 1883 isn’t ancient history and if you want to get upset about the condition of building take a look at some of the schools

Worscht mit Weck 📍Metzgerei Schreiber, Kleinmarkthalle, Frankfurt, Germany 🇩🇪 Taste Germany: tasteatlas.com/germany Frankfurt has plenty of sophisticated food, but one of its longest lunchtime queues forms for hot Fleischwurst served on a paper plate. Metzgerei Schreiber opened in the Kleinmarkthalle in 1954, while Ilse Schreiber—known locally as Wurst-Ilse—turned the tiny stand into a city institution. The order is deliberately simple: thick slices of hot sausage, a bread roll and plenty of mustard. “Worscht mit Weck” is Frankfurt dialect for sausage with a roll, and here it has fed market regulars, office workers and curious visitors for generations. every so often I revisit AC/DC ‘Stiff Upper Lip’. It’s a masterpiece of minimalism. The production is *perfect* - so dry; so warm. You can smell the dust roasting gently on the valves…Phil Rudd doesn’t play a single fill. Not one. Whole album. youtu.be/MRl8s2LqBA4?is=v-48…
