SECRETARY RUBIO: “Nationalism” became a dirty word. So we tore down our monuments, we condemned our own history, and in too many places we taught our children to be ashamed of the countries they would inherit. In the process we opened our borders, and outsourced our industry, and allowed our militaries to wither and to decay.

I met @RepRichardNeal when I was a Northern Ireland Minister. He is personally engaging but is utterly sectarian in his views on Northern Ireland.
Like many ‘Irish Americans’ his views are romantic and disengaged from reality.
The USA is not a guarantor of the Agreement.
This is a consequential moment on the island of Ireland.
The Orange Order parade represents a return to the divisions of the past. After 28 years of progress thanks to the Good Friday Agreement, we have come too far to turn back now.
Today, I joined my colleagues in the Congressional Friends of Ireland Caucus in writing to the British Secretary of State Bryant, calling on the Government of the United Kingdom to cancel the Orange Order parade on Garvaghy Road.

The letter states that the United States is a guarantor of the Good Friday Agreement, but the agreement was reached between the UK and Irish governments and Northern Ireland political parties with no such US role or designation.

1) The United States is not and never has been the guarantor of the Good Friday Agreement.
2) If he cared about the Agreement, he would support its provisions about the Parades Commission and support their decisions even when they back the Unionists
3) He fundraised for the IRA.
This is a consequential moment on the island of Ireland.

Two years ago in New York, I was in a meeting with Representative Neal in which he talked fondly of dinners he attended in the 1980s to raise money for the IRA campaign.
He can sit this one out.

It should be an embarrassment to the entire conservative movement that a self-proclaimed socialist did this instead of them.

We've made a big show of de-Christianifying public institutions in Canada while at the same time using public institutions to promote Islam and Indigenous spirituality
934 prayer or “quiet” rooms have been installed in federal buildings, new documents show. Former cabinet advisor @AmiraElghawaby promoted prayer rooms in gov’t offices though only 2% of employees self-identify as
Muslim.
