SF Friends! I will be in the city this Thursday through next Monday! I'll mostly be busy at the @AvalonInst Expo but reach out and we can try to find time to meet up~
I appreciate how DC has two Japanese grocery stores, one for Yuppies and one for actual Japanese people and Weebs.
Sense and Sensibility was actually quite goodโplayed completely straight, wonderful acting, sound and cinematography (especially the use of animals in shots) were both excellent as well. I especially appreciated that they cast a lead actress whose face evokes the period so well.
I'm normally against animal cruelty but geese in particular once thwarted a Gallic assault on the infernal city of Rome, so I think the French ought to be allowed their vengeance in perpetuity.
Thatโs right
Orangemen worldview is so interesting when you think about it. The God made flesh came to liberate and save humanity, but an evil sect of deceiversโled by a heresiarch in the remnants of the old imperial capitalโusurped His name and perverted the gospel to enslave and damn humanity again. Youโre here on this archipelago, among the very few lands anywhere to have apparently-miraculously been shook awake from this global hoax, though not without generations of bloodshed. Just when you thought all hope was lost, after a popish king again took control of your islands, a brave challenger from some pipsqueak quasi-republic on the continentโKing Billyโliterally took sword in hand and fought alongside your ancestors and liberated you again. But even now, the wretched spawn of a lesser race overwhelm your particular island, and seek even at the cost of their own souls and those of their hordes of ill-begotten spawn to bring back the tyranny of that chief deceiver in Rome. And so even in the age of telephones and automobiles and the advancing rot of your own mother kingdom from within, youโre still just at your post, generation on generation, keeping that precious light of freedom and salvation alive. Primarily through arson and drug-dealing and bombs and marching around in sashes and such. Thugs for God at the end of the world.

You may be forgiven for thinking the Tocharians were an uncreative people. What scant literature survives is almost entirely sectarian, and almost entirely in translation. Buddhist sutras, hymns, dramas, all from India. But one. One unique creation, one original work: a love poem

Come to the Avalon Expo! Iโll be running a session!
Itโs strange to me how many different worlds there are and how unconnected they can be. I go to a climbing gym (that has yoga/pilates/weights too) all the time and like, maybe 10% of the women wear ultra-tight leggings and stuff. Basically no outfit is numerically dominant.
A theme this year has been discovering how much โFrench Rednecksโ may be one of my types.
Also this guy tragically doesnโt seem to have an Apple Music or Spotify page.

Olah will be remembered as a hero in a hundred years. The Pope will be remembered as a generic villain, a weak and straightforward product of his times.
Every time I teach โPuppy Yogaโ or have to deal with some kind of fitness fad nonsense I think of the Druids who had to become court poets after the conversion and itโs because of them that our tradition of sacred poetry survived at all, even in fragmented form.
