Takashi Hoshizaki is a Heart Mountain legend. At 18, he resisted the military draft, because he was incarcerated at Heart Mountain. He was pardoned by President Harry Truman and served in the Army during the Korean War. Now he's received the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun.

Playing behind barbed wire, the Heart Mountain Eagles lifted the morale of the camp's incarcerees. They lost only one game in their two seasons. Read this great story by Leo Wolfson of Cowboy State Daily.

The DC Courts are at their breaking point.
“Victims in #WashingtonDC are going to have to wait longer for justice, defendants are going to have to wait longer for trials, and public confidence in the justice system really suffers,” Executive Officer Herbert Rouson said. 👇🧵
.@HeartMountainWY Board member Dr. Takashi Hoshizaki turns 101! He along with 84 youth challenged US government’s decision to send Nisei boys to fight for the very country that was imprisoning them and their families. After his pardon, he went on to serve in the Korean War 🎂🇺🇸

So proud of our @HeartMountainWY team for winning these grants that will profile the work of @NJAMF & 9 other partners to tell the stories of our fallen heroes and how their families were affected by their incarceration at the 10 American incarceration camps🇺🇸
Two National Park Service grants will enable us to start restoring our historic hospital buildings, spread education about the Japanese American incarceration and honor the incarcerated Nisei soldiers who died serving our country overseas.
