Tim it’s a real privilege to partner with you around the country and especially with top quality organizations like Kettering Health! Looking forward to more Summit Series together, and of course our big Impact & Legacy Summit!!
I was so impressed this last week with the hunger to grow in the leaders of Kettering Healthcare. These people love their staff and their patients. It was an honor to spend a day with them. Thanks Brad Black and HumanEx Venture for making it happen.

Day 1 tells them they belong. Day 2, Day 8, and Day 30 prove it. The welcome matters. What happens when the newness wears off matters more. Build the routines now that keep people connected later. Belonging isn’t a moment. It’s what happens next. #1minwalk2work #GoCrickets

Monday message. As teams get ready for fall season; the individuals/leaders that can BE THE STANDARD the most consistently will have the most FUN (and success generally follows too).

Tom Izzo shares why the best thing a leader can do is hold people accountable to their own dreams and how he does this with his teams. "I always ask them: What do you think my job is for you?" Most players don't know how to answer. So Izzo tells them: "The best thing I could do for you is to hold you accountable to your dreams and goals - not mine." "Sometimes as leaders, we look at what we want instead of what they want." Izzo has each player write down their goals on a card. Then he uses that card when they push back. "When he's mad at me because I'm on his butt about academics, I say: You told me you wanted to be an academic All-American. That's not my goal. That was your goal. My job - if I do my job right - is to hold you accountable to your goals." Leadership isn't about pushing your agenda. It's about helping people become who they said they wanted to be. Hold them to their dreams - not yours. (🎥 Michigan Association of Counties 2020)
Tom Izzo does one exercise with his team every single year. It's the reason he's never missed a player's graduation in 25 years. Here's what he does and why it matters: (📌Bookmark this)

CAPTAINS: The most important person you should lead is YOU. You have to lead yourself positively before you can ever expect to lead anyone else. Don't expect others to follow your lead if you're not doing what you're supposed to do. Be an example to your teammates.

You can’t control what students will remember in 25 years. You can control how many opportunities you create to be remembered. Recognize your colleagues. Acknowledge their impact. Extend their greatness. Take care of the adults who take care of kids. #LeadFromWhoYouAre

Talent is the ‘raw material’ that God gave us and our opportunity is to discover and develop—-our gift back to God and the world. @jperry_nixa is gifted in amazing ways to honor and develop the talents of many hundreds as a Coach Teacher Leader AND as an amazing father!
Talent Isn’t the Finish Line. It’s the Starting Line. This week at the @Humanex Summit I heard a definition of talent that has stayed with me. Talent is a consistent pattern of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are naturally wired within us. @BradBlack5 I’ve been thinking about that definition ever since. Then I think about my son, J Perry’s, performance as Evan Hansen. If you’ve seen the reviews, you know they don’t just say he can sing. They talk about his presence, his emotion, his ability to make people feel something. One person even wrote, “The actor who played Evan Hansen could do Broadway.” As proud as I am of those comments, that’s not what makes me smile the most. What makes me proud is knowing what most people don’t see. They don’t see the years of voice lessons. The countless rehearsals. The auditions that didn’t go his way. The hours spent studying characters. The sacrifices. The discipline. He found something God wired him to do…and then he went to work. That’s the lesson. Too many people spend their lives asking, “Am I talented?” A better question might be: “What has God naturally wired me to do, and am I developing it every single day?” Your greatest gift may already be inside you. The challenge isn’t discovering whether you have talent. The challenge is having the courage to identify it…the humility to develop it…and the discipline to keep getting better. Because talent might open the door. Work ethic determines how far you walk through it. Never Stop Getting Better. @TibbitsTheatre #NeverStopGettingBetter #NSGB #Talent #GrowthMindset #HumanEX #Leadership #Purpose #HardWork #Calling #DevelopYourGift #KeepGettingBetter #DreamBig #Consistency #FaithAndWork #CoachJohnPerry
