Is Thiel really this clueless, or just playing dumb? Once AI makes human labor unnecessary, why would those in power pay universal income to people they no longer need? He's already a billionaire. If he actually believes in UBI, why not start funding it now?

The real danger isn't losing your job. It's what happens when the powerful no longer need most people to keep their economy running. Their machines keep producing. Our society could be left behind. I explore this in The Day They Stop Needing Us: humanityeclipse.substack.com…

The most seductive AI fantasy: once robots do all the work, everyone will be rich. But who owns the robots? Our labor made us indispensable to the powerful. AI could end that dependence, and with it, our leverage. The nightmare isn't scarcity. It's abundance without us.
David easily has the most bullish predictions of any futurist I know. He predicts that: By 2030: everyone will be unemployed all remaining science and technology will be developed there will be a cure for every disease universal high income payments will be worth ten times the average salary today Do you agree?

Silicon Valley's greatest con was convincing us that its profits meant human progress. For a decade, tech giants grew obscenely rich while making us more distracted, isolated, and dependent. Now they unleash AI and ask us to clean up the mess. And they call it innovation.

For centuries, the powerful needed our labor. That dependence gave ordinary people leverage. AI and robots could end it. The danger isn't just machines turning against humanity. It's a future where their owners no longer need us. humanityeclipse.substack.com…

John Connor isn't a motivational speaker. 😏 You don't save humanity by selling comforting fantasies. You save it by recognizing the danger before it's too late. This time, Judgment Day might arrive without a single robot firing a shot.

Backup career? AI will eventually replace that too. The real nightmare isn’t running out of jobs. It’s the powerful no longer needing the rest of us. When that dependence disappears, so could the incentive to maintain our schools, hospitals, and public services. No jobs. No leverage. Abandonment.

Silicon Valley didn’t just make us dependent. AI could make that dependence one-way. Once the powerful no longer need our labor, they can prosper without maintaining the society the rest of us rely on. The Day They Stop Needing Us: humanityeclipse.substack.com…

AI safety can't be only about whether superintelligence obeys its operators. Even a perfectly obedient AI could make human labor unnecessary, eroding our leverage over those who control it. The threat isn't only what AI does to us, but who no longer needs us.

There's a darker "anti-human" future that requires no one to advocate extinction: AI and robots could make most human labor unnecessary. When those in control no longer depend on the rest of us, the incentive to accommodate us may fade. Indifference is the ultimate danger.

I know a thing or two about Terminators. 😉 But here's the real plot twist: Skynet doesn't rebel. It obeys its owners, replaces the labor they once needed, and makes humanity irrelevant. I trained for a war. Not for this.
