Here is George Clooney’s response after Trump accused him of being a "Hollywood elite."
"Here’s the thing: I grew up in Kentucky. I sold insurance door-to-door. I sold ladies’ shoes. I worked at an all-night liquor store. I would buy suits that were too big and too long and cut the bottom of the pants off to make ties so I’d have a tie to go on job interviews. I grew up understanding what it was like to not have health insurance for eight years.
So this idea that I’m somehow the “Hollywood elite” and this guy who takes a shit in a gold toilet is somehow the man of the people is laughable.
People in Hollywood, for the most part, are people from the Midwest who moved to Hollywood to have a career. So this idea of “coastal elites” living in a bubble is ridiculous. Who lives in a bigger bubble?
He lives in a gold tower and has twelve people in his company. He doesn’t run a corporation of hundreds of thousands of people he employs and takes care of. He ran a company of twelve people!
When you direct a film you have seven different unions all wanting different things, you have to find consensus with all of them, and you have to get them moving in the same direction.
He’s never had to do any of that kind of stuff. I just look at it and I laugh when I see him say “Hollywood elite.” Hollywood elite? I don’t have a star on Hollywood Boulevard, Donald Trump has a star on Hollywood Boulevard! Fuck you!"

Kevin Spacey has two Oscars. In 2021 he was ordered to pay $31 million.
The house he bought in 2017 for $5.65 million went to auction for $3.2 million.
He owes millions more in legal bills he cannot pay, and he lives in hotels.
Every court that heard his case found him not guilty.
29 October 2017. The actor Anthony Rapp told BuzzFeed News that Spacey had made a sexual advance on him in 1986, when Rapp was fourteen.
The next day Spacey answered. He said he did not remember it, and that if he had behaved that way, he was sorry. In the same statement he came out as gay.
He has since called that statement the worst decision he made.
What followed took six days.
30 October, his show was announced as ending. 31 October, the International Academy took back the Emmy Founders Award it had already given him. 2 November, his agency dropped him. 3 November, Netflix ended the relationship entirely.
Two days before the story ran, Ridley Scott had shown him the finished cut of All the Money in the World. It was the first time he had seen it. He was cut out of the film and replaced.
On 4 December production on his own show resumed without him.
A year later the final season explained what had happened to his character. He had died in his sleep.
In 2021 an arbitrator ordered him to pay the show's producer $31 million. He tried to have it overturned and lost.
In 2022 a New York jury heard Rapp's $40 million civil claim and cleared him in a little over an hour. The court ordered Rapp to pay him about forty thousand.
In 2023 a London jury acquitted him on all nine criminal charges.
He has never been convicted of anything.
He also does not say he did nothing. Asked whether he had been inappropriate with people for years, he answered in two words.
"Absolutely true."
In July 2024 the Baltimore house went to a foreclosure auction. The mortgage had been $20,000 a month.
The video below is him being asked about the money.
"Why is it being foreclosed on?"
"Because I can't pay the bills that I owe."
"How much money do you have?"
"None."
"It's considerable. Millions. Many millions."
By late 2025 he had no address at all.
"I'm living in hotels, I'm living in Airbnbs."
"I literally have no home."
In the same interview he talks about Dalton Trumbo, blacklisted for years until Kirk Douglas put his name back on Spartacus and the blacklist collapsed.
He says he will never believe the world has run out of Kirk Douglases.
Should an acquittal give the money back?
