“Twelve-month all-cause mortality after initial COVID-19 vaccination with Pfizer-BioNTech or mRNA-1273 among adults living in Florida: Statewide cohort study” Now appears as peer-reviewed study in Global Epidemiology! In closely matched cohorts of nearly 2M Moderna & Pfizer vaccinees in Florida, the latter (Pfizer) showed substantial higher all-cause, cardiac, non-COVID and COVID mortality post 1st mRNA COVID vaccine dose. These results were robust to adjustments on pre-vaccination cardiac hospitalizations as well as SARS-CoV-2 infections. This study adds to a growing evidence that the mRNA COVID vaccines of Moderna and Pfizer may have different non-specific effects. Recent study “In Vivo Blood Kinetics and Transcript Integrity of Three mRNA–Lipid Nanoparticle Vaccines in Humans” @acsnano showed significant differences in systemic persistence of nano-lipids and spike mRNA between Moderna and Pfizer mRNA COVID vaccines! @MaryanneDemasi @FLSurgeonGen

As I said in January 2024, no one should be taking mRNA COVID-19 vaccines because of their terrible safety profile. But for those who had to take one, Florida’s public health data strongly implies that thousands of Floridians died as a result of receiving Pfizer instead of Moderna. The number of lives lost in the U.S. and internationally is staggering, based on this analysis. The culture of approving vaccines without adequate safety testing and assuming “innocent until proven guilty” with these products absolutely, positively needs to end.

There will be lots of policy wonks giving you analysis in the coming days, and they will all have good points. But let me focus on some less policy-driven - but very real - reasons I think Republicans lost so handily last night. 1. People are tired. After working so hard for a seemingly impossible win in 2024, another (perhaps bigger and uglier) fight erupted in 2025 after Charlie was murdered that fractured the right, demoralized the base, and made people want to disentangle themselves from politics altogether. 2. Bad Republican candidates. For example, as much as Talarico makes the normal person’s skin crawl, Paxton, to many people, is worse. They see an uneasy look, an off-putting vibe, a storied past, and what appears to be apathy. Even people who loathe Talarico couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Paxton. 3. Trump doesn’t have his aura right now. Can’t even blame the media for this one. He comes across as dismissive of economic concerns. His Truth Social is pettier than ever. He’s making weird comments about people’s a**es (not kidding), making him come across as unserious when voters are hurting. This can be fine if things are getting done. But when they’re not, it’s just annoying. 4. The loss of Charlie. We may never know the extent of his unifying power and activism, but I think we understand it more now. His connection the White House, his finger on the pulse of conservative/independent concerns, his ability to bolster enthusiasm, his effectiveness in getting out the vote, especially among young men… All of that is now missing and sorely missed. There’s a lot more, of course. The war costing more than anyone wanted. Prices that are crushing the average family. Republican-approved immigration, causing huge demographic and cultural shifts, which are inherently destabilizing and demoralizing. Failure of congress to pass the SAVE Act and other important legislation. Democrats’ demure-but-deadly strategy to keep most of their candidates out of the headlines while doggedly getting out the vote. Republicans have a lot to learn in a short amount of time. Will we? All this to say… there’s reason to be concerned, yes, but not to be discouraged. God’s eternal plan of redemption is always going off without a hitch. He’s never taken aback. He never has anxiety. He’s never wondering what the outcomes will be. He’s in control. We trust in His total sovereignty while also recommitting ourselves in seeking the welfare of the city in which He has providentially placed us (Jeremiah 29:7). We’ve got work to do!

I spent 18 years on this issue. The GOP decided to own the Democrat baggage and then do nothing about it.

Every GOP strategist, consultant, and candidate should be forced to participate in a role-playing exercise this morning. Your name is Bob. You’re a 49-year-old blue-collar worker in Ohio. You’ve always struggled to make ends meet. The good jobs were all shipped to China and the few remaining pay a pittance wage, undercut by endless illegal labor. You’re a 3x Trump voter because you believed he would finally make America great again. You put your son through Ohio State. He graduated cum laude in computer science. You couldn’t have been prouder. After months searching, he landed an entry-level job at Microsoft. Beneath his qualifications, but a good start for a smart kid. Then he got laid off. That same month, Microsoft applied for 150,000 more H-1B visas because it can’t find qualified Americans. Your son has spent six months back in his childhood bedroom, sending hundreds of applications without landing an interview. On TV, Trump boasts about the greatest economy in history and how many women and minorities are finding jobs. You decide a father-son steak night might cheer him up. Gas is $4.50 a gallon. Filling your truck costs over $100. At Kroger, ribeyes are $30/lb. You settle for hamburger, even though 70/30 ground beef still costs $10+. At checkout, a fat black woman is screaming at the cashier because her EBT will only cover most of the filet mignon and lobster in her cart. You think to yourself how the Iran war has made everything expensive, but at least we’re stopping their nuclear bomb. You weren’t even sure where Iran was before you googled it after we first bombed them in March. After dinner, you take your son to the county fair. Half the people aren’t speaking English. Virtually none of the crowd looks like you. You’re forced to leave early after a “teen takeover” turns violent. A foreign born judge pledges none of them will go to jail. Back home, you turn on the TV. Vivek Ramaswamy is lecturing the crowd about American mediocrity and why Ohio needs more foreign talent. Your son grows upset. You change the channel. Now a Republican surrogate, the daughter of a governor or wife of an elderly billionaire, explains that young White men are the REAL welfare queens. They’d rather play videogames in their parents’ basements than work. Your son says nothing. He just goes back to his childhood bedroom. You turn off the TV. Then your neighbor starts blasting reggaeton and cracking open Modelos. He brought his cousin’s family from Mexico to help with all the minority-business contracts his construction firm keeps winning. Tonight they’re celebrating his nephew’s birth, the family’s first birthright American citizen. You sit alone in your living room. You worked hard, paid taxes, obeyed the law, and raised your son to do everything right. You voted Republican again and again because you believed somebody in Washington would finally fight for you. Instead, your wages are stagnant. Groceries are unaffordable. Your community is unrecognizable. Your country is fighting another foreign war. And upstairs, the son you sacrificed everything for is lying awake in the bedroom he slept in at twelve, wondering what the heck he’s even supposed to do with his life now. Every time you turn on the TV, the Republicans you elected are either congratulating themselves or explaining why you and your son are the problem. For ten years, they told you America’s future depended on your vote. Now you aren’t even sure America has a future worth defending. The Republican Party needs to answer one simple question this morning: You’ve spent a decade demanding Bob’s loyalty. You’ve given him stagnant wages, unaffordable groceries, another foreign war, and a son who did everything right but can’t find work. And when they complain, you call them lazy, entitled, and racist. What possible reason have you given Bob and his son to vote Republican? Do you honestly think you deserve their vote?

teapawt.net/AndrewIrelandIN/status… RIP King of the Trust Chart
While a handful of ballots remain to be counted, it is clear that we have narrowly lost this race. I want to congratulate David Boyd on his victory and wish him well as he prepares to serve our Southside community. To everyone who knocked doors, put up a sign, donated, or trusted me with your vote - thank you. To my wife and family and the volunteers who gave so much of themselves to this campaign over the last two years, I am more grateful than I can ever put into words. Serving the Southside has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I am incredibly proud of my record and what all we accomplished at the Statehouse. For Republicans, the message could not be clearer. Voters spoke in May and again this fall. If we want to win, we need a new direction in leadership here in Indiana. I look forward to being an active part of that conversation in the years ahead. This is a tough and humbling setback, but my commitment to our community and the principles I ran on has never depended on holding an office. There is much more work to do. We will be back. God is good, always!

🚨 BREAKING: @GovBraun is extending Indiana's gas tax holiday through December 4. Braun signed two executive orders today, extending the statewide energy emergency and suspending collection of both the Gasoline Excise Tax and Gasoline Usage Tax for another 30 days. The extension applies to all 92 Indiana counties. Diesel tax relief for qualifying agricultural and timber operations is also continuing. Braun says the move will keep money in Hoosiers' pockets while using state reserves to ensure INDOT road projects and maintenance continue uninterrupted. Another month of relief at the pump.

Someone should find the clip of Ron DeSantis in the primaries in which he said that Trump, king of lockdowns and warp speed, would drive the party into the ground. He cited the losses of 2018, the Covid disaster, and the 2020 loss. He was right but – thanks to the unbelievable risk and sacrifice of so many, along with the crucial support of Tulsi and RFK and Musk – people set aside their doubts and hoped for the best. Trump never took his responsibilities seriously and betrayed the trust of everyone.

This is maybe the most thorough and honest diagnosis of an election defeat that we’ve ever seen from a politician at Vance’s level. And he’s right.
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up. So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us." Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026. There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true. But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone. Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were: 1) End the war 2) Focus on cost of living/inflation 3) Put America First 4) Change our relationship to Israel Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.) In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you. The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night. If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there. I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

Your cholesterol test screens you for insulin resistance for free, and your GP reads you the wrong line. The LDL gets the bold type and the cardiologist. The triglycerides and HDL get a lower line and a printer running out of ink, and together they're the most honest pair on the panel. Years of seed oil with sugar and starch on top leave fat cells deaf to insulin, leaking fatty acids all day. The liver ships the flood back out as triglyceride, which climbs. That triglyceride gets swapped into your HDL, and fat-stuffed HDL is cleared faster, so HDL falls. So divide one by the other. In British units, triglycerides over HDL above about 1.3 is the insulin resistance pattern, and under 0.9 is good. In American units, it's above 3 and under 2. The lab calls triglycerides normal under 1.7 (150). Under 1.1 (100) is where they belong. HDL wants to be well clear of 1.0 for men and 1.2 for women (40 and 50). Take the starch and sugar to zero and it's common to see triglycerides drop under 1.0 (90) within weeks, with HDL climbing past 1.5 (60) behind them. That's a ratio under 0.7. Your doctor circles the LDL in red. The repair is printed two lines underneath, in smaller type, and nobody circles that.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis: Some of these Republicans are saying, "Oh, well, the gas, don't worry. It's no big deal." Or they're trying to blame Biden. No, no. Listen, we've just got to be honest. Gas is higher. It hurts people, working-class people, and it's higher because of the Iran conflict. That's just the fact. If you can't admit that to voters, then you're gaslighting them, and they're not going to listen to you on other things.
