#StoriesOfGrit From the Frontlines to the Floodwaters — Sub Padalkar Sandip Pandurang’s Story of Grit From a farmer’s family in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, to the toughest frontiers of the nation, Sub Padalkar Sandip Pandurang turned his childhood dream of wearing the uniform into 27 years of dedicated service. Joining the MARATHA LIGHT INFANTRY in 1999, he served during Operation Parakram, with the Ghatak Platoon in Poonch, across challenging sectors of Kashmir and the Northeast, and as part of the UN Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan. Years of soldiering forged a leader whose courage would soon become a lifeline for others. On 07 September 2025, as the overflowing Luni River trapped villagers in Dasyriya, Rajasthan, he swiftly mobilised a Quick Reaction Team. Braving chest-deep, surging floodwaters, he led from the front, guiding 19 civilians, including children, to safety. With seven more stranded, he coordinated with the State Disaster Response Force, facilitating their rescue. Beyond operational duties, his commitment to society continues through motivating village youth, conducting Agniveer training capsules and strengthening bonds with local communities. For 26 civilians rescued from the floods, the #IndianArmy was more than a symbol of strength — it was hope arriving through the raging waters. #WeCare #FloodRelief @adgpi @KonarkCorps @PRODefPune
