"Library Socialism" needs to be a more of a thing. Can you *possibly imagine* them today building public palaces where no-one is turned away, where anyone can take a physical item home at no cost for weeks at a time? That is utopia and we did it once. boingboing.net/2019/11/24/us…

Murray Bookchin: "Either revolution will create an ecological society, with new ecotechnologies and ecocommunities, or humanity and the natural world as we know it today will perish."

Almost all non-domesticated animals on this earth, 73%, have vanished just over the course of my lifetime. The neoliberal economy is a planetary cancer. It is deeply, deeply sick. 1/3 bbc.com/news/articles/c5y3j0…

Police say it is one of most elaborate encampments they have ever seen, with a mini-power grid, including solar panels, and multiple home appliances. The encampment was discovered last week by the City of Edmonton and Edmonton Police Service joint response encampment team. It was almost completely camouflaged and included four multi-level structures surrounded by a fence made of trees and broken branches. The structures had been built without nails or other forms of support and were at risk of collapse. Inside, police and park rangers found fire-stoves with lit fires, a stone fireplace, stone/marble flooring, a working fridge and washing machine, and live electrical wires strung haphazardly. Power was supplied by four generators, with solar panels powering a chop shop for stolen bikes. 15 weapons, including three guns, and about $8000 worth of stolen goods were recovered. Police have so far returned 2 backpack blowers and 1 mountain bike to their rightful owners. 20 violation tickets were written, and 10 warrants executed. The encampment caused significant environmental damage to the trees and root systems, and the nearby creek was dammed in multiple places to provide running water to one of the structures. The encampment has since been dismantled. Those living in it were offered access to services and supports, which they refused.

A key point missing in a lot of post debate analysis is that Trump’s claim about immigrants eating pets almost perfectly syncs up to the piano in the Peanuts theme song.

This is why libraries need to be able to own—not rent—digital content. 🕳️#VanishingCulture #preservation
Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Kindle, Spotify, nearly all digital platforms reserve the right to change or remove content without notice. Note, this can include retroactively revising books and magazine/newspaper articles to "improve" or "update" them.

Tim Walz is an excellent choice for Vice President. He's a climate champion. He's a fighter for working people and young people. He's the kind of VP that shows young people that VP Harris is for real.
