I really don’t like coming online to post my private life but I guess this is necessary. I was assaulted and harassed by police officers at Somolu today. They claimed that the vehicle that I have been driving for 5 years is stolen because a sticker that carries the plate number of the previous car owner was found on the top left corner of the windscreen of my vehicle After giving them all my up-to-date car documents, including my proof of Ownership documents, they insist my car was a stolen vehicle. How is that possible when I have been renewing my papers and going for car inspections every year for the last 5 years ? Thier claim was just outrageous and wasn’t making any sense to me One of them even went away with my car documents and I do not know where he went to and if he had gone to tamper with them. When I asked where my car papers were, one of them punched me in the chest 3 times. I have it on camera I noticed a pattern of oppression and because I didn’t allow myself to be taken advantage of, they ended up rough handling me, holding me on my trousers like a common criminal and finally towing my car and confiscating in the street in front of their their station at Alade Police station, Balogun street Somolu. The environment do not seem safe and my car is a at risk of vandalism and worse getting stolen if it remains there overnight Their intimidation was for me to be extorted and since I didn’t give them the chance to they decided to lay their hands on me and impound my car. One even called me a criminal in my face and threatened to shoot at me. Please I need this post to reach the right authorities. I have called the police hotline designated to handle cases like this and for over 2 hours they kept telling me they will give me a call back. So at this point I am In the dark. Please help me tag and bring the right authorities attention to this post. @AbimbolaShotayo @PoliceNG_CRU @CspIniedu @PoliceNG I will be attaching video evidence of my assault.

The energy at Alimosho was unmistakable and the message was clear: Lagosians are ready for a new direction. Alongside His Excellency, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, we connected with the people and witnessed their enthusiasm and determination to make their voices count. This is what people-powered politics looks like. Not politics from behind closed doors. But leadership that shows up, engages, listens, and stands with the people. Together, we can build a Lagos that works for everyone. The people are ready. Lagos is ready. I am ready. Ó TI YÁ.

Today, I visited Ile-Epo in Alimosho, Lagos State, to brief our people on the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket. In my remarks, I urged them to remain steadfast and to serve as voters, mobilisers, agents, and defenders of the OK and NDC mandate, whether in their home states or here in Lagos. In my company was the Lagos NDC Gubernatorial Candidate, Mr Funso Doherty, and I thank everyone sincerely for their warm support and reception. - RMK

In 2013, Governor @tundefashola commissioned the 1.68km Lekki-Ikoyi link Bridge and proudly announced that it had been fully funded by Lagos State taxpayers, at ₦29b ($195m). Lagosians protested at the idea that a private company - LTC - which had NOT funded any part of the work, would now reap tolls where they sowed nothing. It was the cost that immediately caught my attention, as I had followed - largely because of its engineering complexity - the construction of the 42km Qingdao Jiaozhou Bridge over the Jiaozhou Bay in China, which cost approximately $2.3b ($55m per km) in total. The much, much shorter, and much less complex and technically challenging 1.68km Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge cost Lagosians $143m per km. Let that sink in. The Commissioner for Works that supervised that obvious mismanagement of public funds was @drobafemihamzat. Yes, the same one who is now waxing lyrical about a 100 page "promise" to Lagosians. It was also Hamzat that supervised the signing of the Lagos Blue line construction contract which Fashola announced cost Lagos $1.2b, only for the contractor - CRCC - to announce to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that they were paid $182m for the Blue AND Red lines! Let me not talk about the huge loans obtained for all these projects, some of which are not completed to this day! You can see just how experienced Hazmat is in mismanaging public funds for the benefit of his benefactors and to the detriment of the long suffering Lagos Taxpayers. You see that 100 page kinikan promise he released yesterday? If you allow them to rig him in with their AI Voters, you will realise that right now, as bad as Lagos actually is with bad roads, refuse, lack of water and so on, you are actually living in APC's version of paradise. As experienced hands in the built environment sector, @GRVlagos and I will certainly not allow this kind of Waste, Mismanagement and Imprudence in delivering the multiple projects that we plan to. Lagos can no longer afford it.

In Owerri today, Peter Obi’s campaign vehicle moved slowly through a market on the way to the NDC town hall. What happened next was simple and, for many, unexpectedly moving: market women began pressing foodstuffs- tomatoes, vegetables, fruits and other produce, into the vehicle and toward him. Babies were lifted up. People smiled, waved and chanted. No cash was being distributed. The goods flowing were the women’s own stock. This is worth pausing over because Nigerian politics has trained people to read public displays of affection as either carefully staged or purely transactional. “Stomach infrastructure,” rice distributions, cash handouts and hired crowds are the familiar grammar. Here the grammar was inverted. Women whose daily capital is the produce they sell chose to give some of it away. In an economy where food prices have remained punishing and many small traders are operating with thin or negative margins, that is not a trivial gesture. It is a small personal sacrifice offered as recognition. Market women occupy a distinctive place in Nigerian public life. They are not abstract “voters.” They are the operating system of the informal economy; the people who buy from farmers, sell to households, and carry the immediate shock of inflation and currency weakness. In many Igbo communities they also function as social barometers. When they warm to a politician, it is usually because they have already formed a judgment about character, consistency or past performance. Obi’s long record of market visits (both as Anambra governor and as a candidate) and his repeated emphasis on production, small-scale trade and reducing the cost of living give that judgment a concrete reference point. The scene also sits inside a larger pattern visible across his current tour. He has been stopping in markets and interacting with traders in multiple states, not merely holding closed-door stakeholder meetings. The Owerri moment is one of the more spontaneous-looking examples. It does not prove that every crowd is organic or that every supporter is uninfluenced by party machinery, I agree, because this is politics. However, It does show that, in this particular place and at this particular time, a sizable group of ordinary traders felt moved enough to offer something of their own rather than simply receive. Politically, the Southeast remains Obi’s strongest base from 2023, and Imo is not an exception. What is striking is the durability of the emotional connection after the Labour Party fragmentation, the move to the NDC, and three years of national economic strain. The reverse gift; citizens giving the candidate part of their livelihood, is a vivid counter-image to the usual campaign exchange in which the candidate (or his agents) gives the citizen something in exchange for a photo or a vote. Whether that emotional capital can be converted into votes across a more competitive national field is a separate question. The video simply records that the capital still exists, and that it is being expressed in a language of affection rather than obligation. In a period when many Nigerians describe politics as extraction and leadership as distance, a market full of people voluntarily parting with their goods is a reminder of what recognition looks like when it is not purchased. That is why the clip feels emotional. It is not spectacle for its own sake. It is ordinary people briefly treating a politician as someone who has already earned a measure of their trust. End.

This is how stupid our people are. And it’s most of the population I am selling rice for N1,000. Rice is essential for everyone to eat. Everyone is buying the rice. Suddenly a new producer comes and says rice is now N10,000. You complain and groan. He now goes “Ok I will give you loan so that you can afford the N10,000 rice”. You now jubilate and say “This man is trying. He cooked with that loan for me to be able to afford rice” This is the tale of NELFUND.

President Tinubu’s Government Lacks the Capacity to Deal With Nigeria’s Problems; He Does Not Have the Energy Required for Nigeria; He Must Go Home - Obi We need him to go home because Nigeria cannot be governed by his energy. Nigeria needs a president who will be available and be there at any location in the country that has a problem. We cannot be in government, and 600 people will be kidnapped and taken into the bush; we will go into that bush with them. Peter Obi, Presidential Candidate, NDC
