It’s been a horrible few days. My family in the Catholic Church in Gaza city are reporting white phosphorous and gunfire into their compound. The bin collector and the janitor have been shot and their bodies are laying outside and remain uncollected. 1/2

It is a relief to have a workforce plan as it is vital we have a workforce that reflects and meets the needs of patients. We know young people with cancer have better outcomes when they are treated in an age-appropriate environment and are supported by specialist staff.
Today we’ve published our first ever NHS Long Term Workforce Plan – a once in a generation opportunity for the NHS.

Please read; the most important piece I've written. Mass poisoning has suddenly killed off most sea life for 30 miles by the Tees. The govt claims it's natural; ind scientists warn it's manmade. The govt is desperate not to inquire too deeply as its freeport policy is at stake.

When faced with misogyny in the headlines teachers and parents always ask:
"How do I talk to the boys in my life about sexual violence?"
You don't. You don't start there. If you want to have an actual conversation that works, it has to begin somewhere else. 🧵

It's on why we need a universal childcare offer for families.

According to messages shared in Twitter Slack, Twitter’s CISO, chief privacy office, and chief compliance officer all resigned last night.
An employee says it will be up to engineers to “self-certify compliance with FTC requirements and other laws.”

Worth heeding this by @jameskirkup today - as we found in our recent report there is a sizeable chunk of voters who could well opt for a party of the populist right if they continue to feel the system is being rigged against them.

It’s quite hard to find words for the idea of cutting family incomes in a cost of living crisis, which is what not uprating benefits means. Grave implications. 🧵

Pls share to stop confusion.
THERE IS NO £2,500 CAP ON ENERGY BILLS.
Instead the new 1 Oct guarantee, like the old caps, limits
- Daily charge (28p gas, 46p elec)
- & Unit rates (10p/kWh gas, 34p/kWh elec)
So use more, pay more. £2,500 is just what someone with avg use'd pay

Inflation could hit highest level in five decades and even w/ existing govt support, millions of households will be unable to afford the #costofliving.
Govt must do more to help struggling households.

To avert climate catastrophe, the main emitters must drastically cut emissions starting this year.
This means accelerating the end of our fossil fuel addiction, and speeding the deployment of clean renewable energy.
Every second counts. It's time for urgent #ClimateAction.

Latest calculation for the electricity and gas UK retail price cap is scary. Very, very scary.
Consultant @CornwallInsight puts the cap in October at £3,582 a year (up from £1,971 per year current). From January, it jumps to £4,266 per year.

Labour's mission should be to create a UK economy that's regenerative & distributive by design - one that meets the needs of all within the means of the living planet. Aiming for 'growth' simply won't deliver on that. @UKLabour rise to the moment & offer us a vision worth backing

Preparing for climate change tends to be framed as a future challenge. The reality is now. We need urgent action on how infrastructure, support and services can help people cope with such astonishing and alarming new highs (and winter lows).
