Mountaineer Conservative Action, a PAC linked to Sen. Pres. Randy Smith, just dropped $100k on negative mailers against Del. Shawn Fluharty.
The PAC has now spent nearly $200k exclusively against the democratic state Senate candidate-- more than any other in the general so far.

Through reporting this, I learned that under current state law, the Hope Scholarship office isn’t notified when a parent faces criminal charges, nor is there a requirement for the Hope account holder to report such charges — like child abuse charges. westvirginiawatch.com/2026/1…

New: I looked into a WV child abuse case involving students using the Hope Scholarship.
I found challenges for public schools tasked with attendance monitoring for Hope students, including children missing school and in potentially dangerous situations.

Last week, two women died when their car went up and over the interstate barrier at the I-64/77 split, landing in the gravel pit below. Theirs was the sixth crash and eighth death since May 2025 in the same spot.
Now, their children want answers.

$90 million in taxes from data centers is in on the line for Mason Co. schools, hinging solely on whether its tax levy passes in Nov. If not, the data centers keep the money.
