That’s a beautiful verse Hannah. Something deep is hidden in it. Adam was created on the sixth day, so the first full day he ever lived was God's day of rest. He didn't start by working toward rest. He started by resting in work already finished.
Man's life began with rest in a finished work… and salvation begins the same way. And then, look at it carefully… Thus the heavens and the earth were FINISHED… Genesis 2:1. On the cross Jesus said …It is FINISHED… John 19:30. Then His body rested in the tomb on the Sabbath, and He rose on the first day of a new week, the first day of a new creation. God finished the old creation and rested on the seventh day… Jesus finished the new creation and rested in a tomb on the seventh day. Thank you for sharing this verse. Grace to you.
