As she does every day, the catastrophically and comically misinformed, or just flat out lying again, Whateley tells yet more lies about the @Motability @MotabilityOps scheme !
Helen Whateley’s claim is a cynical distortion of how Motability works. **No one is handed a “free car for ADHD.”** Motability is not a perk, a cash giveaway, or an entitlement based on a diagnostic label.
It is a leasing scheme for people who choose to exchange some or all of a qualifying mobility benefit—most commonly the higher-rate mobility component of Personal Independence Payment—for a vehicle, powered wheelchair, scooter, or accessible adaptation.
A diagnosis of ADHD, by itself, does not qualify anyone for a Motability vehicle.
Eligibility depends on being awarded the relevant mobility benefit after an assessment of how a person’s condition affects their ability to move around or to plan and follow journeys safely and reliably.
That can include people whose disabilities are not immediately visible: for example, someone who cannot navigate unfamiliar routes, manage overwhelming environments, travel independently, or safely complete essential journeys without substantial difficulty. Pretending that this amounts to “free cars for ADHD” is not policy analysis; it is a dog-whistle designed to invite resentment toward disabled people.
And “free” is doing an enormous amount of dishonest work here.
Recipients use a benefit that was awarded to meet mobility needs.
Many pay an upfront advance payment as well. In return, the lease normally bundles insurance, servicing, breakdown cover, tyres, and relevant adaptations—costs that would otherwise make accessible travel impossibly expensive for many disabled people. Calling that a free car is like calling a pension “free money” or calling an NHS prescription “free drugs”: it deliberately erases the system, the eligibility rules, and the need it exists to meet.
The real question is why a Conservative MP thinks disabled people should be made into a convenient funding source for defence spending. Defence is a core state responsibility and should be funded honestly through taxation and spending choices—not by scapegoating people who depend on mobility support to get to work, medical appointments, shops, family, education, and community life.
Motability exists because disabled people deserve the practical freedom that many non-disabled people take for granted: the ability to leave home, travel safely, and participate in everyday life.
If Whateley wants to argue for higher defence spending, she should make that case openly. She should not manufacture a fake story about “free cars for ADHD,” then present cuts to disabled people’s independence as fiscal responsibility.
Free cars for ADHD is not what our welfare system was designed for. Nor can we afford it.
@Conservatives will reform Motability so that it's there for the seriously disabled. And we'll invest the savings so that we reach 3% of GDP on Defence.

"This was just about DEI and Cambridge. Arday was just incidental to that".
He is saying the quiet part loud enough for us to hear. These guys believe they are fighting a war against DEI. Jason Arday was just collateral damage. Nothing more.
The day we stop playing cheakers while these people play chess, is the day we start to fight back against what is clearly an orchestrated campaign to roll back the gains of many decades.

Or the time he claimed to be in an airport queue and him and some other guy were the only ones not wearing masks and they hugged and everyone clapped 🙄
Except someone reading his post was behind him in the queue and let everyone know it was a crock of shit 😆
