Russia's Neustrashimy frigate is crawling toward Baltiysk on a dying engine after getting spotted off Edinburgh on October 22 pouring out thick black smoke, then slowing down near the Danish straits on October 26.
Gas turbines on this type of frigate don't smoke like that, so the smoke and slowdown point to the engine losing power from incomplete fuel burn rather than bad fuel, like the ship basically wore its engines out trying to limp home.
