We are incredibly grateful to Raymond Smith for highlighting the work of Children Heard and Seen in his latest ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐๐... column for @InsideTimeUK.
Ray's article comes at an important moment, following the Government's announcement on children affected by parental imprisonment. As our Founder and CEO, @SarahBurrows100, said:
At Children Heard and Seen, we believe one of the most effective ways to make this a reality is through schools. Schools are where children spend most of their time, where trusted relationships already exist, and where a simple check-in from a teacher can make all the difference. If concerns arise, schools are also best placed to respond quickly and appropriately.
That's why we developed our Model School Policy on Parental Imprisonmentโco-created with adults who experienced parental imprisonment as children, alongside education and safeguarding professionals. It provides schools with practical guidance to create safe, compassionate and parental imprisonment-aware environments where children feel understood and supported.
Thank you, Ray, for continuing to champion children affected by parental imprisonment and for helping amplify the voices of those with lived experience.

When I was in prison, I loved reading @InsideTimeUK - a newspaper distributed inside our jails. It made me feel as though other people understood my experience. It's always a pleasure to write for them. This piece, about HMP Wandsworth, and @WandsworthPIC is addressed to people inside, but you may find in interesting too.
