World's first open-source turbopump successfully tested.
Developing 35 kW of shaft power spinning at 26000 rpm, it delivered 1.8 l/s at 90 bar, with the gas generator and turbine running at up to 1300°C for 15 s. No significant damage recorded.

I've been working on a really fun video that I shot with @DJSnM, @Integza__ and @JamesWhomsley when we were at Kennedy Space Center Visitors complex. It's over an hour of just 4 nerds nerding out about rockets in an incredible museum. I'll hopefully get it out tomorrow!

For a 2-stage spaceshot, high altitude ignition of the second stage is tricky to get right. My approach here is to dump a ton of heat into the prop as quickly as possible - this shot from Super 8 was 1000fps, played back at about 2.4% speed. The command-to-steady state time is about 0.25 sec

Open Sauce 2025! What a phenomenal event - I can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s like an enormous adult science fair for nerds and then sometimes there are astronauts

I motion tracked go pro footage of Booster 15's landing to show the full on aerobatics this 20-something story building equivalent has to do to pull off being caught by the tower. Neat. @NASASpaceflight

There are few things on earth that will humble a mechanical engineer quite as much as having to assemble or manufacture something they themselves designed.
