After forty years in front of the camera, I’ll be directing my first feature film, SO HELP ME GOD: a Civil War epic about a Union soldier named Albert Townsend, who should have received the Medal of Honor but didn’t.
Clerical error.
I learned of Albert through his descendants’ archival research. What I found was more than an injustice waiting to be corrected. It was a story of friendship and extraordinary courage: an unassuming young man becoming a soldier who held his ground, and his principles, under fire.
That’s a story worth telling on the largest possible scale. And we’re inviting the people who want to see it told to help bring it to the screen, as investors in the film through Republic.
We intend to do it justice: real cannons, one hundred horses, and the cast in period-accurate uniforms. We’ve brought on Mark Huffam, whose work includes Saving Private Ryan, Game of Thrones, and The Martian, to produce it. He knows what it takes to make an epic, and how much depends on the human story at its heart.
At the Medal of Honor Heritage Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, I introduced the project alongside Civil War historian Brad Quinlin, members of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and representatives of Civil War Roundtables. We’re also supporting the campaign for Albert’s posthumous Medal of Honor. His descendants are still fighting to see his courage properly recognized.
This picture is about friendship, love, and honor — and common people rising to accomplish extraordinary things. I want to give that story everything it deserves.

How do I know the Book of Mormon is true and contains the word of God? I live the principles of Christ contained therein and it produces good fruits of joy and enlightenment that are delicious to the soul. And so can anyone else.
President oaks has certainly softened to since becoming the prophet. Notice how his voice changes and becomes firmer when he's speaking about the Church and the Gospel.

There is a phrase in the Book of Mormon that I love—
“They have come up hither to hear the pleasing word of God, yea, the word which healeth the wounded soul.” (Jacob 2:8)
As we study and discuss the gospel, it is so easy to get caught up in unanswered questions, to get off into the weeds, to worry about things we may not yet understand— and in doing so we miss the most important reason we have the scriptures.
“To hear the pleasing word of God, the word that HEALS the wounded soul.”
We are ALL wounded and need healing— healing that only Jesus Christ can provide.
The scriptures are there to bring us to HIM!
To help us become whole.
To bring us HOPE and PEACE.
There are many on this platform who are trying to pull us off into the weeds— and they are succeeding in far too many cases.
Any time we spend entertaining their ideas and join in their speculation, is time that Satan is keeping us from the true source of God’s word. Time we could be spending so much more effectively… time that will help keep us connected to Jesus Christ.
It is one of Satan’s most subtle tactics to get us to slowly shift away from what we KNOW to be the words of Jesus Christ.
We need to avoid speculation.
We need to immerse ourselves in the WORD.
We need to use the scriptures and the words of living prophets to move closer to Jesus Christ.
We really need to stay on the path and stay out of the weeds!
In short, brothers and sisters, not being ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ includes not being ashamed of the prophets of Jesus Christ.
"But make no mistake about it, brothers and sisters; in the months and years ahead, events will require of each member that he or she decide whether or not he or she will follow the First Presidency.
Members will find it more difficult to halt longer between two opinions (see 1 Kings 18:21).
President Marion G. Romney said, many years ago, that he had “NEVER hesitated to follow the counsel of the Authorities of the Church even though it crossed my social, professional, or political life” (CR, April 1941, p. 123).
This is a hard doctrine, but it is a particularly vital doctrine in a society which is becoming more wicked.
In short, brothers and sisters, not being ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ includes not being ashamed of the prophets of Jesus Christ.

Point people to the LIGHT found in Jesus Christ.
The Lord doesn't command us to do anything that we don't willingly covenant to follow. Tithing. Offerings. Ministering. Chastity. It's all in the covenants. Don't take on covenants if you don't want to endure to the end.

It is a matter of historical fact that the two groups most prone to murdering or enslaving Christians are Communism and Islam.
The Democrat Party is now under the control of a marriage of convenience between literal Communists and Islamic Jihadists. This unholy alliance is popularly referred to as the "Red/Green Alliance."
If you are an American Christian, know this: the Red/Green Alliance wants you dead, or enslaved, or bankrupted, or persecuted so badly that you will not be allowed to live freely in American society.
They hide behind the lies of benevolence of seemingly harmless masks like Talarico.
Those masks will fall as soon as they achieve power.
There should not be a single adult Christian staying home for the midterms. Christians must vote like their life depends on it, because it does.

Study the social posts of the Prophet and Apostles. Do they engage in debate or testimony? Do they dispute or share light? Theirs is the pattern I will follow.
This is the latter day gathering of Israel . The Lord calls us through His prophets as hunters and fishers to find the lost sheep. The Book of Mormon is the beacon to call the lost ones home.
I believe in modern prophets. And they aren't all members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The Book of Mormon adds to our knowledge of how our Savior’s earthly ministry reached out to all of His scattered flock.
Book of Mormon teachings contradict the erroneous assertion that the grace of God saves only a chosen few.
The Book of Mormon teaches that our Savior "inviteth ... all to come unto him" (2 Nephi 26:33). His grace is for all.
Similarly, the Book of Mormon tells us that the children of God in “every nation” have His promise that He “manifesteth himself unto all those who believe in him, by the power of the Holy Ghost” (2 Nephi 26:13).
These promises from the Book of Mormon are true.
I call upon all to act on these truths and to share them with others, that we may all draw closer to Jesus Christ, our Savior.
