Owl's parental's dynamic with Wolf is a very specific, but real one. A father who raised his son through abuse, yet showed him enough affection to keep him attached. One who undermines his child, yet also inadvertently taught them to survive. One that took but also gave hope;
Shura more or less being forever trapped in a cycle of violence in Sekiro works perfectly in tandem as a commentary on how children can fall into perpetuating the cycle of abuse they inherited from their parents.

But I think how hard Wolf is to read, speaks to how deeply his father damaged him. We won't know if Wolf still carries complex feelings towards Owl, but at the very least, he received the closure he needed to move on during the second memory of Hirata Estate.

This dynamic is very deep and nuanced, it's unfortunate that I can't fully explore it in-depth by just twitter threads, but I hope I was able to shed light on how impeccably it is presented through subtle notes throughout the game.

A beautiful detail done by fromsoft, setting both the scene were Owl found Wolf and the scene where Wolf rebels at the same time of day. This time Wolf is no longer the helpless stray that Owl found in that battlefield.

Wolf effectively stoops lower and becomes worse then his father has ever been. Which is the biggest fear of someone who's trying to escape the cycle of abuse that they suffered from their parents. Becoming them, or even worse, is a gut wrenching thought.

This links back to my other posts in which I discussed how Shura is scary, because Wolf is trying to change, he can try to be better then his Father who raised him. Ending up worse then his father ever was in his attempt at becoming different is such a tragedy.

Mergo's Wet Nurse in BL4. Nothingburger, the boss. A shame how this fight is clearly intended to have a level of challenge yet completely falls on itself due to massive oversights. Other then that the BL4 has been *mostly* very smooth! Doing Old Hunters soon.

If there's a one net positive I will always give to chalice dungeons, it's that the online ones make obtaining materials for a BL4 much easier and quicker to do.

The funniest part about Genichiro's fight in retrospect is that he was fully bragging about his powers in his 3rd phase, like "behold the power of Tomoe" just for you to find out quickly that he's not even good at using them. They did him more harm then good in the fight.

Funny how it's part of the lore as well, he was not a master at using his powers, FS accounting that into how easy the phase is a very smart choice. But in a writing sense it comments well on how desperateness can make people extremely destructive but also very vulnerable.

Both you and Wolf keeping your composure and making quick work of him speaks to how mechanically you've gotten better and how Wolf's battle senses have fully sharpened whilst Geni's desperation caused him to fall on his own feet.
