This Tuesday, us Israelis will do our best to replace our government in the up-and-coming Israeli elections, and hopefully, choose a path that will gradually lead Israel away from committing atrocities and war crimes - and initiate a newly found mutual understanding with the international community and its interests. If successful, it will still remain a long journey to take, but hopefully - on the right path this time around. Pray for our success.

While many Israelis celebrate their independence today, they choose to ignore a basic truth: their independence is built on the ongoing occupation of the Palestinian people, denying them freedom and self determination. There is no real independence when it is reserved for those of the โright bloodโ alone. The Palestinian people have the right to live in freedom, justice, and peace like any other people. That must begin with ending the occupation and apartheid, and establishing an independent Palestinian state. After decades of force and bloodshed, it is time for a different path, independence and freedom for all.

If change comes, it will be more than a national turning point. It could mark the beginning of a broader pushback against right-wing populism, a force that has fueled hatred, eroded democratic norms, and spread fear across the world.
