ATIKU WAS RIGHT: TINUBU’S $20BN LOAN REQUEST VALIDATES HIS WARNING — NOW EXPLAIN THE COASTAL HIGHWAY LINK
Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has said President Bola Tinubu’s request for approval to borrow $20.52 billion and €1.045 billion vindicates the warning he gave Nigerians on October 12 about a loan plan of up to $20 billion.
Atiku said the President’s failure to identify the specific projects to be funded deepens serious concerns that the Lagos–Calabar Coastal (now inland) Highway, could be used to channel borrowed public money to Tinubu’s political campaigners and favoured contractors.
In a statement issued by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Atiku said:
“On October 12, I warned Nigerians that President Tinubu was reportedly preparing to borrow up to $20 billion in connection with the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway. I demanded that he confirm or deny the plan and publish the accounts. He did neither. Today, he has asked the Senate to approve $20.52 billion and €1.045 billion in external loans. My warning has been vindicated.
“The President has listed broad sectors but has not provided Nigerians with a project by project account of what this enormous borrowing will fund. There are no clear project details, costs, locations or contractors for the public to scrutinise.
“That silence is especially troubling when the Coastal Highway has been rerouted inland. Nigerians have every right to ask whether the highway is being turned into a pipeline for borrowed money to reach Tinubu’s campaigners and favoured contractors. How can any President, barely 12 weeks before an election, ask lawmakers to saddle Nigerians with more than $20 billion and €1 billion in debt without identifying the projects and their costs? Is this a development plan for Nigerians or a campaign financing scheme dressed up as infrastructure? Tinubu must answer.”
“The National Assembly must not approve a single dollar until the President publishes every project, contract, cost, contractor, loan term and repayment obligation. No public money should be borrowed in the dark. No lawmaker should sign a blank cheque against Nigeria’s future.
“I warned Nigerians before this request reached the Senate. Now the burden is on Tinubu to prove that this borrowing will serve the country, not his political interests.”
Atiku called on lawmakers to make the proposal and its supporting documents public and subject them to rigorous scrutiny before any decision.

“INEC’s conduct has opened the door to manipulation and left Nigerians unable to check who has been added, who has been removed and whether their own names remain on the register. That door must be shut now. Publish the register by local government, area council and ward. Explain the conflicting dates. Give voters the full opportunity the law provides to challenge false entries and restore omitted names. Anything less is an assault on the credibility of the 2027 election.
“I call on Nigeria’s international partners, election observers and democratic institutions to press INEC publicly to comply with the law. Do not wait until election day to ask whether this contest is credible. Demand access to the voters’ register now. Ask how every ballot paper will be authenticated. Transparency before the vote is as essential as scrutiny of the results afterward.
“The right to vote begins with the right to know that your name is on the list. INEC must stop hiding behind a blank screen. Publish the register. Open it to scrutiny. Answer the country.”

The Challenge Association of Traders, Telecommunications and Allied Dealers (CATTAD) and its affiliate groups are among Kwara State’s most industrious and economically productive business communities.
Sometimes during the build-up to the 2023 general elections, when we engaged with them, they disclosed that their combined monthly transaction turnover exceeded ₦1 billion - a testament to their enormous contribution to the state’s economy.
Sadly, many of these businesses have since fallen on hard times following the Kwara State Government’s decision to wall off their business premises. Their repeated appeals for reconsideration, relief or even some form of succour have, unfortunately, fallen on deaf ears.
My meeting with them today was, therefore, one of mixed feelings. I was delighted to see their resilience and determination to keep their businesses alive against all odds. At the same time, I was saddened that a community we engaged, supported and sold our vision to in 2023 is now enduring what I consider an unjust and undeserved setback under the very government we helped bring to power.
I reminded them that one of the most powerful ways to make their voices heard is through the ballot. By standing together and exercising their democratic rights, they can send a clear message and hold accountable those whose decisions have adversely affected their livelihoods and businesses.
At the meeting, the association, under the leadership of Prince Maleek Yusuf Olarewaju, declared its unalloyed support for my re-election and other PDP candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
I sincerely appreciate the leadership and members of CATTAD for their continued love, solidarity and confidence in my representation. Their support further strengthens my resolve to stand with our traders, protect their legitimate interests and champion policies that promote economic growth and business prosperity.
I urge them to remain united, sustain their enthusiasm and intensify their mobilisation towards securing victory for the PDP at all levels in the forthcoming elections.
Together, we can build a Kwara where businesses thrive, livelihoods are protected, and the voices of hardworking citizens are heard and respected.

The confirmed case of Ebola in the Federal Capital Territory is deeply concerning. My thoughts are with the patient, and I commend the health professionals working with urgency to contain the infection and protect the public.
In a moment like this, Nigerians deserve calm, clear information and decisive action. I urge the authorities to sustain contact tracing, support those affected and protect the frontline workers risking their own safety to care for others.
I call on every Nigerian to follow the guidance of health experts and share only verified information. The media has an important role in informing the public responsibly and helping prevent fear and misinformation.
Let us stand together, support our health workers and do everything necessary to contain this case swiftly. The safety of every Nigerian must remain our shared priority. -AA

If you never applauded me for what pleased you that was done in Saudi, don't bash me for the opposite except you dey craze

PRESS STATEMENT
ADC-PCC: Kwankwaso Cannot Distract Us; His Response Exposes Alleged Alliance with APC, Tinubu
…Challenges NDC Vice-Presidential Candidate to Stop Attacking Atiku and Confront Tinubu Over Nigeria’s Worsening Crisis
The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has dismissed Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s response to its earlier statement as diversionary, insisting that his reaction has further raised questions about his political alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The ADC-PCC had earlier advised Kwankwaso, the vice-presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), whose presidential candidate is Peter Obi, to stop attacking the ADC presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and redirect his energy towards holding the ruling APC accountable for its failures.
The Council maintained that, as an opposition figure, Kwankwaso should be challenging the Tinubu administration over the worsening economic hardship, insecurity and declining living standards confronting Nigerians, rather than repeatedly targeting Atiku and the ADC.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Director of Media and Publicity of the ADC-PCC, Kola Ologbondiyan, said Kwankwaso’s response had failed to address the substance of the Council’s concerns.
According to the ADC-PCC, Kwankwaso casually mentioned the APC in his defence but devoted much of his response to attacking the ADC, a development it said raised questions about his priorities as an opposition leader.
“Why is Senator Kwankwaso making our candidate the issue instead of confronting the ruling APC, whose policies have made life increasingly difficult for millions of Nigerians?” the Council asked.
It argued that Nigerians were more concerned about hunger, insecurity, high fuel prices, the depreciation of the naira and the crushing economic hardship under the APC-led government than political exchanges among opposition figures.
The Council insisted that these national challenges should be the priority of any politician genuinely committed to providing an alternative to the Tinubu administration.
It further challenged Kwankwaso to explain why his political attacks appeared more frequently directed at Atiku and the ADC than at the ruling party responsible for the country's current challenges.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the ADC cannot and will not be distracted by Senator Kwankwaso,” the Council declared.
Describing the ADC as a strong and increasingly accepted political platform, the ADC-PCC said it remained focused on mobilising Nigerians around its commitment to rescuing the country from what it described as the failures of APC governance.
The Council also challenged Kwankwaso to stop using attacks on the ADC to curry political favour with the ruling party and instead demonstrate the courage to openly align himself with the APC if he shares its political agenda.
The ADC-PCC reaffirmed its determination to remain united, focused and committed to offering Nigerians a credible alternative in the 2027 general election.
