Mandatory fortification of wheat flour for bread-making began in Australia in September 2009. A 2025 study in "Nutrients" journal compared Adelaide pregnancy cohorts recruited before and after fortification. Gestational diabetes incidence rose from 5.0% to 15.2% after fortification; Red-cell folate (a marker of longer-term stores) increased by around 259%; The share of women above the clinical reference range jumped from 0.5% to 57.6%; Higher red-cell folate was associated with greater gestational diabetes risk; Excess red-cell folate was linked to ~48% more gestational diabetes cases. Placental hormones involved in glucose regulation were also higher post-fortification. The authors concluded that maternal folate excess (from fortification plus widespread higher-dose or prolonged prenatal supplementation) is likely contributing to the rise and that known factors such as age, obesity, ethnicity, and diagnostic changes do not fully account for its magnitude or trajectory. Animal data and other observational work support possible effects of high folic acid intake on insulin resistance and glucose regulation via placental function. It's ironic that folic acid fortification of food may even be harming those that it is targeted at. Mrs Alan, with no prior history of diabetes, developed gestational diabetes when pregnant with both our kids. She was fastidious at following the folic acid guidance. That's just one piece of data of course, but the Australian study suggests it might be a more widespread issue. mdpi.com/2072-6643/17/17/286…

Suppose that once a week, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to £100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this: The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay £1. The sixth would pay £3. The seventh would pay £7. The eighth would pay £12. The ninth would pay £18. And the tenth man (the richest) would pay £59. So, that’s what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every week and seemed quite happy with the arrangement until, one day, the owner caused them a little problem. “Since you are all such good customers,” he said, “I’m going to reduce the cost of your weekly beer by £20.” Drinks for the ten men would now cost just £80. The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes. So the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free but what about the other six men? The paying customers? How could they divide the £20 windfall so that everyone would get his fair share? They realized that £20 divided by six is £3.33, but if they subtracted that from everybody’s share then not only would the first four men still be drinking for free but the fifth and sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fairer to reduce each man’s bill by a higher percentage. They decided to follow the principle of the tax system they had been using and he proceeded to work out the amounts he suggested that each should now pay. And so, the fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (a 100% saving). The sixth man now paid £2 instead of £3 (a 33% saving). The seventh man now paid £5 instead of £7 (a 28% saving). The eighth man now paid £9 instead of £12 (a 25% saving). The ninth man now paid £14 instead of £18 (a 22% saving). And the tenth man now paid £49 instead of £59 (a 16% saving). Each of the last six was better off than before with the first four continuing to drink for free. But, once outside the bar, the men began to compare their savings. “I only got £1 out of the £20 saving,” declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, “but he got £10!“ “Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a £1 too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more benefit than me!” “That’s true!” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get £10 back, when I only got £2? The wealthy get all the breaks!” “Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison, “we didn’t get anything at all. This new tax system exploits the poor!” The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next week the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had their beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important – they didn’t have enough money between all of them to pay for even half of the bill! And that’s how it works. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy and they just might not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas, where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier. For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.

Together they represent one of the biggest transfers of wealth from households and businesses to the Treasury in decades - with no noticeable improvement in public services. Whether you're a business owner employing staff, a parent paying school fees, a farmer planning succession, an entrepreneur building wealth or simply someone trying to save for retirement... You keep less of what you earn. You keep less of what you invest. You leave less to your family. Death by a thousand cuts is becoming tax policy.

In 1985 two scientists won the Nobel Prize for proving something that should have changed medicine forever. Brown and Goldstein showed that your immune system cannot even see normal LDL. Native LDL floats through your blood and your body ignores it. The scavenger receptor is locked. No recognition. No uptake. No disease. But when LDL gets oxidized by inflammation, seed oils, high blood sugar, or cigarette smoke, everything changes. The scavenger receptor unlocks. Your macrophages recognize it as a threat. They engulf it. They swell. They become foam cells. And foam cells are what build the plaque inside your arteries. That is not a theory. That is Nobel Prize winning science from 40 years ago. The disease does not start with how much LDL you have. It starts with what damages it. Yet here we are in 2026. Doctors are still measuring total LDL and prescribing drugs to lower it. Nobody is asking what oxidized it in the first place. The Nobel Prize answered the question. Medicine ignored the answer.

Understanding that the problem is never an income problem, the government brings in 5 trillion in tax receipts every year. The problem is a spending problem. The government spends 7 trillion every year. (And if we brought in 7 trillion, politicians would spend 10 trillion). Politicians are experts at wasting money. When it's not your money you will be indifferent to waste and corruption, especially if you happen to be one of the participants in the corruption. So how does it help people that are struggling by taking more of their hard earned income by increasing taxes? The only people that benefit are the politicians and organizations that are skimming off that increasing tax base. So when you hear politicians screaming about raising taxes to pay for this or that perceived injustice or inequality (have you ever noticed that no matter how much money we throw at these problems they never get any better?) you know it has nothing to do with funding the government or fixing a problem, it has to do with lining the pockets of the swamp (and getting votes by stoking envy and outrage in the lower and middle class).

The government is adding folic acid to all non-wholemeal wheat flour in the UK by law. They call it a public health win. What they are not telling you is that folic acid is not folate. Folic acid is the synthetic oxidised form of vitamin B9. To become usable, the body must convert it through several enzyme steps, including a critical conversion by the MTHFR enzyme, into 5-methyltetrahydrofolate. That is the active form your cells can actually work with. A significant portion of the population carries variants of the MTHFR gene that impair this conversion. Enzyme activity can drop by up to 70 percent in those with the homozygous variant. Unmetabolised folic acid accumulates in the blood instead. I carry an MTHFR variant. Most people who do have no idea. They eat their fortified bread and assume they are getting folate. They are not. They are accumulating a synthetic compound their body cannot process efficiently. Unmetabolised folic acid does not sit there harmlessly. Research suggests it may impair natural killer cell activity, the immune cells responsible for identifying and clearing abnormal cells. It also masks a vitamin B12 deficiency. The blood marker can appear normal while neurological damage continues underneath. Standard testing may not reveal the full picture. For anyone with an MTHFR variant the methylation cycle is impaired. Homocysteine builds up. The synthetic form does not resolve this. Only the active methylated form does. No screening. No individual consideration. No acknowledgement that the conversion pathway exists. Just mandatory fortification for every single person in the country. Real folate is found in food. Liver is the most concentrated source and delivers it already in the active 5-MTHF form. No conversion needed. No gene variant problem. They are adding a synthetic vitamin to a refined grain food and calling it progress. If you still eat bread, choose 100 percent wholemeal, rye, or ancient grain varieties like spelt or einkorn. These are exempt from the law. White, standard brown, and organic bread made from non-wholemeal flour are not. Organic status makes no difference to the fortification requirement. This Jason’s sourdough wholemeal is the only one I’ve seen that doesn’t contain synthetic vitamins or seed oils. Which bread do you eat? #bread #folicacid #synthetic

You can run with this premise and the conclusion remains absurd. The UK has rapidly decarbonised already. It has made no difference, because the UK's share of carbon emissions was already statistically insignificant — which is only becoming more true over time. We could hit Net Zero. We could hit negative carbon. Nothing would change, because China and India exist, and they do not give a damn about our political gestures. (This is evidenced by their emissions increasing almost as quickly as our political gestures have proliferated, and over the same timeframe.) No amount of decarbonisation in the UK will make any difference to summer temperatures. This is not an ethical or an ideological point - I like the environment, I dislike excessive heat - it is a mathematical one. All it does is make us poorer and less able to adapt to the new reality. A policy of increasing carbon emissions would, paradoxically, improve our climate resilience, because we'd be able to afford basic infrastructure like air conditioning while adding nothing of note to global emissions. The only reason this is not widely accepted is that political environmentalism is a virtue cult. It has no interest in climate science, it has no interest in tangible outcomes, it is entirely concerned with allowing mediocrities to play act saving the world.
It's officially the hottest June day ever. We know who is to blame. Fossil fuel firms. The billionaire media. Weak politicians. We know what we must do. Rapid decarbonisation & adaptation for a healthier, wealthier country safe for future generations.

The year is 1949. The Nobel Prize in Medicine has just gone to the man who invented the lobotomy. Your doctor suggests one for your sister, who has not been herself since the baby came. It is the most celebrated advance in psychiatry of the age, and he is simply current. By the time the prize curdles into an embarrassment, close to twenty thousand Americans have had the operation, and proportionally more here in Britain. The year is 1956. Lay the baby down on his front, the doctor says. So does the most trusted childcare book ever written, the one on every new mother's shelf. On his back he might choke, the reasoning goes. Millions obey. The advice holds for nearly thirty years, long after the evidence has quietly turned, and a generation of cot deaths is counted before anyone thinks to roll the babies over. The year is 1966. A bestselling book informs your wife that menopause is a disease, that she is, in the author's word, a castrate, and that a small daily pill will keep her youthful and tolerable to live with. Her doctor agrees. The drug becomes one of the most prescribed in the country. Nobody mentions that the author sat on the payroll of the company that made it. That detail surfaces decades later, in the same year the landmark trial is halted early for raising rates of breast cancer, stroke and clots. The year is 1979. Your ulcer is caused by stress and sharp food, the doctor explains. Calm down, drink milk, take the antacid that happens to be the best-selling medicine on earth. Two Australians are about to prove that most ulcers are caused by a bacterium and cured by a fortnight of antibiotics. The profession laughs. One of them eventually drinks a beaker of the stuff to settle the matter. The establishment takes the better part of twenty years to stop laughing. The Nobel lands in 2005. The year is 1985. Butter is dangerous, the doctor says. Switch to margarine, it is modern, it is heart-healthy, the experts are united. The spread he nudges you toward is loaded with trans fats, which the next decade will identify as the genuinely dangerous one, and which will eventually be banned outright. The butter goes quietly back in the fridge. No correction is ever printed at the volume of the original warning. The year is 1992. There is a pyramid on the surgery wall, and the very same one in your grandchild's classroom. Bread, cereal, rice and pasta form the broad virtuous base, up to eleven servings a day. Fat is exiled to the tiny tip. The chart was reportedly held back a year while the relevant industries had their say. It is wrong at the bottom and wrong at the top. Now it is today. Your doctor has new guidelines, new studies, a fresh consensus, delivered with precisely the steady confidence of every guideline above. He believes it, and he has good reason to. So did every doctor in this thread. None of them were villains. Each was sincere, most were kind, and all were certain, reading from a map that somebody else had drawn and handed them. That is the part worth sitting with. So when the man in the white coat tells you what to eat, what to fear, and what to swallow every morning for the rest of your life, you are allowed to ask. Who paid for the study. What the evidence says beneath the headline. What he was just as certain about thirty years ago, and where that advice sits now. Then make up your own mind. Call it scepticism, or call it whatever your grandmother called it when she ignored the advert, kept the butter where it was, and lived to ninety-one. It has outlasted every consensus on this list. It will outlast this one too.

I know a lot of you have been crypto only and are interested in stocks, or feel like you have missed the move. While yes, you largely have missed the first big leg. I'd like to remind you that there will always be more opportunities. This is all a 10 year buildout in general. That will continue into the 2030's eventually there will be a large correction and you'll get things at a discount. But by no means have you missed it all and the reason i say that is bc a lot of it doesnt even exist yet. Unless you see 1 billion robots working in factories bc i dont see that yet. then you know we haven't even scaled yet. You will be fine, you will have opportunities. Things will change as long as you put yourself in a position to win when the time comes

AI, Robotics, Medicine, Defense (ai drones etc), Energy What a crazy 10 years ahead of opportunity. The Golden Dragon Bull Run (with many shakeouts and peaks and valleys) 2 years ago people would laugh at AI bc the image generation wasn't great, or robots bc they were slow and clumsy. But really, every time we see a new release you have to realize that it's the worst version we will see of them. Especially with how quick things are progressing. Humans mostly think in linear terms but what is happening is at a logarithmic scale and pace. One of the largest issues is we can't actually scale all of this. YET. I think the biggest mistake is looking at things on too low of a time frame when you have to think about what all this is going to unlock over the next decade.

🚨 I HAVE NO MICROPLASTICS IN MY BALLS 🚨 This should not be possible. Studies show that 100% of men have microplastics in their semen. I am the first human ever to show a complete reduction to zero. This may be a world-first breakthrough in fertility research. I had 165 microplastic particles in my semen just 18 months ago. Now, I have zero. Five published studies have measured microplastics in human semen. Two found them in 100% of men. The other three found then in 44 to 76% of men tested, but those used methods that miss the smallest particles and the clear ones. Corrected for that, the real rate is likely 100%. Almost every man alive has plastic in his semen right now. The same applies to testicular tissue, testing 100% positive for microplastics. Microplastics hurt sperm. Human studies show the impact of various types of plastic, associated chemicals, and other toxins on male fertility: + 60% fewer normal shaped sperm (from PFAS) + 5x higher odds of low sperm count (from PTFE) + 10% lower sperm concentration (from PTFE) + 15% lower swimming ability (from PTFE) + 41% lower swimming ability (from PET) + 12% lower sperm swimming ability (from BPA) + 3x higher odds of low sperm count (from Phthalates) + 2x higher odds of poor swimming (from Phthalates) The effects compound: each extra type of plastic drops sperm swimming ability by about 21%. This matters even if you’re NOT trying to get pregnant. Sperm count is one of the cleanest biomarkers of overall health we have. And microplastics don't stop at the testes. The same particles are showing up everywhere we look. Studies show 4.5x higher rate of heart attack, stroke, and death in people with microplastics in their arterial plaque vs. those without. Microplastics were also found in 100% of human placentas tested. 100% of post-mortem human brains tested positive for microplastics. Brain concentrations rose ~50% between 2016 and 2024, and now sit at roughly 11x the levels found in the liver or kidney. Where do these come from? + PTFE, commonly in non-stick pans + PET, water bottles + Phthalates, makes plastic soft and bendy + BPA, can linings + PFAS, stain-resistant fabrics & food packaging Inside the body, plastic causes a kind of cellular rust. It triggers inflammation in the testicles, kills the cells that make sperm and drops testosterone. It's been confirmed across 39 animal and cell studies, then in human data. MY PROTOCOL: Note, what I did is n=1, not a controlled trial, I cannot prove cause. 1. Sauna (dry). My toxin blood panel confirms sauna clears plastic related chemicals: BPA, phthalates, PFAS, flame retardants, pesticides. The plastic particles themselves are too big to sweat out directly. Heat may activate other clearance routes: bile flow through the liver, the cell's internal cleanup system, and the gut barrier. Humans have almost no enzymes that can break plastic apart, so the body has to physically push it out. 2. Reverse osmosis water filter. Drinking water is likely a major source of microplastic getting into your body. A reverse osmosis filter pushes water through a very tight membrane and strains the particles out. I filter everything I drink. 3. Trying to rid my environment of the big plastic items: cutting boards, cups, plates, food storage containers, non-stick pans, cling wrap, tea bags, water bottles, kitchen utensils, kettles, and synthetic clothing. Note, as hard as I try, I'm always finding new plastic things in my life. This can be all-consuming thing so try to just knock out the big ones. I did all three interventions at the same time. I cannot say which one did the most work. What I can say is this: going from 165 to zero in 18 months is possible. Results: Nov 2024: 165 particles/mL Jul 2025: 20 particles/mL Apr 2026: 0 particles/mL The 18 month window also captures roughly 7 full spermatogenesis cycles.

Interesting. The clear objective of today’s $MSTR earnings call is to prepare, and subtly persuade, shareholders for the eventuality of selling BTC. That’s been the consistent undertone from Phong Le and Saylor throughout. It strongly suggests this is already in their plans, with bullish, financially engineered frameworks being presented to rationalise it. What stands out is the complete narrative shift compared to the past few years. Which validates my MSTR thesis: they’re approaching the structural limits of the perpetual dilution model. At a certain scale, the dilution required to sustain growth starts to outweigh the growth itself. At that point, selling BTC becomes less of a taboo and more of a necessity, hence the groundwork now being laid to justify it. Yet their guidance in today’s earnings implies a direct contradiction; Strategy believes it will not have any accumulated earnings & profits (E&P) for U.S. federal income tax purposes and does not expect to generate E&P for the foreseeable future. On that basis, distributions on its preferred equity are expected to be treated as non-taxable return of capital (ROC) for potentially a decade or more. Well that framework implicitly depends on not generating earnings, i.e. not realising gains. If they begin selling BTC to fund distributions, they risk generating E&P, which would undermine the ROC treatment. So the model effectively boxes them in: either maintain the ROC narrative and fund distributions via continued equity issuance (perpetual dilution), or sell BTC and compromise the tax-efficient structure they’ve been promoting. It’s a lose-lose and a sign of desperation imo. Just buy BTC, IBIT or Treasury 2.0’s.

New UK screen time rules just dropped — and they’re stricter than most parents expected. From 27 March 2026, England says: zero solo screens for under-2s (except quick video calls with family), and max one hour a day for 2–5 year olds — no screens at meals or the hour before bed. Co-view everything, stick to slow-paced content, and ditch fast social-media clips and AI toys completely. The science is sobering: toddlers’ brains process info up to 10 times slower than adults. Fast-paced screens push them into fight-or-flight mode — racing heart, surging energy — while they’re sitting still. Researchers at the University of East London say this mismatch can wire kids for more tantrums and emotional struggles later. Using screens to calm meltdowns? It often backfires long-term. As a parent, it’s brutal — we all know that explosion the second you take the tablet away. But this feels like evidence finally catching up with what our gut has been telling us. How are you handling screens with little ones — strict limits, co-viewing, or mostly winging it?

India ran the most important cardiovascular study of the 20th century by accident, and then immediately forgot about it. In 1967, Dr. S.L. Malhotra published a study in the British Heart Journal examining heart disease rates among 1.5 million Indian railway employees. The population was extraordinarily useful for research purposes: same employer, same healthcare access, comparable income and working conditions, spread across the entire country. The only meaningful variable was geography. Which meant diet. North Indian railway workers: Punjab, Rajasthan, UP, ate a diet built around ghee and dairy fat. They consumed up to 19 times more fat than their southern counterparts. The fat was primarily saturated: clarified butter, milk fat, the short-chain saturated fatty acids that Ancel Keys had recently been telling the Western world were arterial death. South Indian railway workers ate a diet based on rice, sambar, and seed oils: groundnut oil and sesame oil, primarily. They ate considerably less fat overall. By the standards of dietary advice being formulated in the 1960s, they should have been the healthy ones. Heart disease mortality in South India: 135 per 100,000. Heart disease mortality in North India: 20 per 100,000. Seven times higher in the population eating seed oils. Among railway sweepers specifically, the lowest-paid, most physically active workers, the gap was even wider. Heart disease was fifteen times more common in the South Indian sweeper population than in the North Indian sweeper population. Malhotra controlled for everything he could reach: smoking, where Northerners actually smoked more. Activity levels, where the relationship was inconsistent. Socioeconomic status, where executives died more often than sweepers regardless of region. He found no variable that explained the gap except the type of fat in the diet. He published the data. In a peer-reviewed journal. In 1967. The study was cited periodically, acknowledged as methodologically interesting, and then set aside. The decade in which Malhotra published was the decade in which Ancel Keys's fat hypothesis was being converted into policy. The American Heart Association was issuing guidance recommending polyunsaturated vegetable oils as replacements for saturated animal fats. The food industry was producing seed oils at industrial scale. The infrastructure of seed oil promotion was being built, expensively and with great institutional momentum. A study showing that populations eating animal fat had a fraction of the heart disease of populations eating seed oils was not, in that context, a study that anyone particularly wanted to follow up. Nobody followed up. Almost sixty years later, the finding stands unrefuted in the literature. It is not in the dietary guidelines.

The UK government is handing out free money to anyone willing to buy assets. We talk endlessly about the Stocks and Shares ISA. However, the SIPP, Self-Invested Personal Pension is a cheat code. Let us run the numbers for someone earning a salary of £35,000 a year. The take home pay is roughly £2,300 a month. Imagine you decide to divert £160 of that into a SIPP. The second that money lands, the taxman steps in. Because you are a basic rate taxpayer, HMRC is legally forced to refund the tax you already paid on those earnings. They drop an extra £40 straight into your pot. You only sacrificed £160 of your own wages. But you are actually investing £200 every single month. Over twenty five years, that is £12,000 of free money handed to you by the government. But that is just the seed money. You take that boosted £200 a month and use it to buy units of the S&P 500 $VUSA. You leave it alone for two and a half decades. Historically, pointing that exact amount of cash at the global markets turns into a retirement pot worth roughly £190,000. You only ever parted with £48,000 of your own money. The government top up and the stock market generated the £142,000 difference. But if you earn over £50,270 and fall into the higher rate tax bracket, the math becomes ridiculous. Let us look at a salary of £60,000. If you want £500 a month landing in your SIPP, it only costs you £300. Your pension provider automatically claims £100 from the government, and the taxman owes you another £100 straight back in your pocket. You are literally buying £500 worth of the S&P 500 $VUSA for exactly £300. Historically, pointing that amount of cash at the global markets turns into a retirement pot worth roughly £475,000.
