People naturally move toward what feels friendly and retreat from what feels threatening. When others perceive someone as being "for" them, they open up, engage, and invest energy in the interaction. On the flip side, if they sense hostility, anger, or judgment, they instinctively protect themselves by fighting, fleeing, or freezing up.
In every interaction, ask yourself: "Is my tone conveying that I'm for this person or against them?"

People who keep saying that Appalachia should’ve been prepared for this really know nothing about the area or weather. This wasn’t a “once in a lifetime” thing. This was a “this has never happened since Noah” kind of thing. It’s one thing to live below sea level and have this happen, it’s a whole other to literally live in the mountains and have your home wash away or have water covering your house. People had less than a days warning of how bad it might be and nothing said it would be this bad. On the coast people know a week ahead what will likely happen because it happens all the time. It’s not the same.

Love and Logic parents & teachers simply meet the universal human needs...
1. The need for unconditional love, respect and comforting limits.
2. The need for healthy control.
3. The need to be noticed and feel good about oneself.

I can’t even wrap my mind around what it means that FAFSA completion is down 30.7 percent on March 15 compared to last year. “Alarm bells” don’t really do this situation justice. It’s a 10-alarm fire for all who care about college access. And I know so many do!

We’re basically living in the era of The Jetsons but students who type “Ave” on the FAFSA are getting error messages because their contributor put “Avenue” and it’s not smart enough to realize those are the same thing.

There are 19 known FAFSA and FSA ID issues, many of which prevent students from filing the FAFSA. Only three have been resolved since January 1. Workarounds for some require calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center, but the lines are clogged. fsapartners.ed.gov/knowledge…

Florida’s Orange County school district banned cell phones for the entire school day, even during breaks. So kids can’t use them during class and they can't use them during breaks. They have to keep phones in the backpacks at all times. There’s a "We see it, we take it" policy.
"And on the first day, more than 100 phones were confiscated from students. In the following days, confiscations dropped dramatically. This school district has seen a drop in bullying and a rise in student engagement. Teachers report that there has been "newfound life" injected into the classroom. Students are more talkative and more collaborative." (@scrollingtodeath on IG)
What do you guys think about this no phone policy in school? I like it with an emergency policy where they can use phones in a crisis.
