An inspiring performance... if Henry's aim was to get some senior citizens in a care home to have some cocoa and biscuits and have an afternoon nap.
Probably my favourite version. It's much less bombastic than Olivier's or Branagh's. #StCrispinsDay

This defamatory electronic excrement, extruded from the orifices of anonymous poltroons, is what anyone faces, who tries to dissent from Brtish official policy on Ukraine. This is ceasing to be a free country.
Given you're a Russian shill, very little.

Tremendous courage - but can anyone now explain what the 1853-56 Crimean War was about, or what advantages it brought us? 60 years later we offered Russia Constantinople in a secret treaty.
25 OCTOBER - BALACLAVA DAY: THE THIN RED LINE 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 On this day in 1854, the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders stood firm against advancing Russian cavalry at Balaclava, Crimea. Outnumbered and exposed, these Scottish soldiers held their nerve in one of the most celebrated acts of courage in British military history. Their commander, Sir Colin Campbell, gave the immortal order: ⚔️ “There is no retreat from here, men. You must die where you stand!” Sir Colin's aide John Scott is said to have replied, "Aye, Sir Colin. If needs be, we'll do that." Their disciplined volleys broke the Russian advance, protecting the British base at Balaclava. War correspondent William Howard Russell described the sight as a “thin red streak tipped with a line of steel” - giving birth to the legendary name, The Thin Red Line. Today, we honour the courage, discipline, and sacrifice of those soldiers whose actions became part of our shared British military heritage. Remember the 93rd. Remember Balaclava. Remember the Thin Red Line. Scotland’s courage. Britain’s history. Never forgotten. 🇬🇧 Alba gu bràth 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 #BalaclavaDay #ThinRedLine #ScottishHistory #BritishArmy #CrimeanWar #MilitaryHistory #LestWeForget

Based on the thread's points plus independent review of the full evidence, the 1988 radiocarbon dating by three labs (Nature) to 1260-1390 AD remains the strongest, widely accepted result. Criticisms of the sample and newer methods like 2022 WAXS (compatible with 1st century under specific storage assumptions) are debated but not consensus. Image formation is unexplained; blood and other details are mixed. Overall chance it is the authentic 1st-century burial cloth of Jesus: roughly 10%.

What is 'House Gammon'? The British media ecosystem likes to platform archetypes of British identity that offer a veneer of authenticity while parroting regime talking points. The House Gammon is allowed a degree of autonomy over issues the regime does not regard as existential, such as debates about transsexuals or the burqa. However, on subjects about race or geopolitics, the House Gammon will be perfectly aligned with Power. The House Gammon is effective containment because the masses look upon them as their own in-group in a way they may not with a libtard or posh Tory type. Say it as it is old cockneys, working-class salt-of-the-earth rebels and five pints and a pie archetypes all make for great House Gammon.

A while ago I was told a story; somebody's grandma, who lived in Donetsk, went to Volnovakha to pick up her Ukrainian pension in February 2022 (cash-only), and got caught up in the beginning of the SMO. She decided to go to Mariupol "until things calm down". A relative of hers was living at a dormitory adjacent to Azovstal, so she went there (terrible luck on that woman). The dorm was taken over by Azov fighters, who kept everyone who was still there as hostages. Absolute minimum of food and water, and no food at all after a week or so. At some point, they realized the Ukrainian soldiers would run into the basement anytime a Russian drone was close enough to be heard, and used that to flee. The old woman and her relative dashed through the kill zone and managed to avoid drones, bombs and snipers, and safely reached the Russian lines. It's a crazy story, the chain of bad luck and picking the worst possible new place to go at every spot, but after listening to the story what stuck with me was: oh yeah, she was kidnapped and taken hostage by Azov and used as a human shield. That's a thing that happened. And it registers to me as "normal" because that's just a thing they did and still do and despite constituting the worst series of war crimes Europe has seen since the Balkans, comparable only to ISIS in Syria, it's not even "shocking" to me anymore because of how much exposure to this terrible sort of thing I had and how nobody outside of Russia cares *at all*

The battle of Mariupol, where virtually all civilian casualties were the direct result of Ukrainian troops forcefully preventing the evacuation of civilians, still, 4.5 years later, accounts for about 20% of the claimed TOTAL.

Very interesting @pressgazette article on @peterjukes’s @BylineTimes It seems that almost all of the share capital it raised was anonymous, and almost two-thirds of its shares are held anonymously. This means we have no idea who initially funded the organisation nor who owns and controls it. Very peculiar, given Jukes public commitment to transparency. pressgazette.co.uk/media_bus…

.@iainmartin1 . Perhaps it is because we dislike the government trying to panic us into compliance with yet another moronic war of choice - this time fought almost entirely without money, weapons or troops. A few tins of sardines won't save us from the long-term woe such a war will bring.
Is deeply odd this profusion of people mocking the idea that people having basic supplies - food, water, some cash, wind-up radio - is somehow silly, a joke or weird. In countries such as Finland and Sweden this is absolutely standard, part of their “total defence” doctrine.
