Duke Energy guaranteed a $10 million line of credit so the Democrats could hold their 2012 convention in Charlotte.
The host committee never paid it back. Duke simply wrote it off. Shareholders (and ultimately ratepayers) ate roughly $6 million of the cost after taxes.
Jim Rogers, Duke’s CEO at the time and a co-chair of the host committee, shrugged it off as a contribution “for the greater good.”
Years later Lynn Good collected $20–21 million packages—mostly stock and incentives—while North Carolina families watched electricity prices climb and the company sought rate hikes.
A regulated monopoly underwriting one party’s convention, absorbing the loss, then handing its top executives eight-figure pay.
That’s the arrangement.

Its been a rough 24 hrs. Please keep our family, especially my hubby in your prayers. My mother-in-law passed away from Dementia. One of our last conversations, have you met my son. I believe you guys would make a perfect couple. I was sad she didn'tknow me, but at the same time it made my heart full. She is in a better place and I know her grandkids have one heck of a guardian angel looking after them.

Chuck, stop lying. NC A&T and UNCG have never had on-campus early voting sites during midterms. Same as every previous midterm. They had one in the 2024 presidential year—exactly the pattern the board followed.
The GTA gives students free rides. Dems are running free shuttles. Union Square is right there. These kids walked for the cameras and the narrative, not because Republicans locked the doors.
If Democrats will invent “voter suppression” over a normal midterm plan, imagine the rest of what they lie about. The same people who can’t define a woman, push men into women’s spaces and sports, and cheer women “unalive-ing” their unborn babies. Spare us the democracy lectures.

Good evening, my beloved Kingdom Prayer Wall family. I come before you tonight with a grandfather’s heart, asking my brothers and sisters in Christ to please join me in prayer for my precious grandson, Clayton. 🙏
I just received a message from my son that Clayton is at the emergency room. His younger brother accidentally scratched his eye and is in so much discomfort that he cannot open it. They are talking about possibly transferring him to UK(University of Kentucky)Hospital tonight.
KPW family, I’m asking each of you to please lift my little grandson up before the throne of grace.
Please pray that our Heavenly Father places His healing hands upon Clayton’s injured eye, eases his pain, protects his eyesight, and brings him complete healing. Pray also for the doctors and nurses, that the Lord will guide their hands and give them wisdom as they care for him.
As his grandpa, I wish I could take every bit of his pain away. But I know a Heavenly Father who loves him even more than I do, and I am placing my precious grandson in His mighty hands tonight.
I believe in the power of prayer, and I believe there is power when God’s children come together in the precious name of Jesus! 🙌

On Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, at approximately 6:34 p.m., CMPD officers responded to a motor vehicle crash with injuries in the 10600 block of Moores Chapel Road.
Upon arrival, officers located a Harley Davidson motorcycle off the left side of the road and a Honda Pilot with front left quarter damage at the crash location. The driver of the Honda, Jose Salas Tzompaxtle, 36, was on scene and advised of no injuries. The motorcycle rider, Rodney Ewing Quinn, 66, and passenger, Dana Asbill Osborne, 63, were both lying in the roadway unresponsive. MEDIC pronounced both the driver and passenger of the motorcycle deceased on scene.
Jose Salas Tzompaxtle showed signs of impairment and was charged with two counts of Felony Death by Motor Vehicle and issued a citation for No Operators License.
He is now also under an ICE detainer.
Deport them all!

Why I’m FOR the amendment that lets the state legislature put a cap on local property tax increases:
Because in my county, the current commissioners keep proving they can’t (or won’t) manage the basics.
•We have a $24 million lawsuit that triggered a tax hike. The previous board had the sense to include a caveat: the increase ends once the lawsuit is paid off. The current board has neither paid the balance down early (so we stop paying interest) nor written in any such protection. Taxpayers are just stuck with it.
•They voted for a tax increase, then reversed it after realizing they thought the biggest data center’s assessment would cover the difference. Not one of them asked about that assessment before they voted. At what point did anyone consider that the data center might contest the valuation and refuse to pay? Some of these commissioners are on the ballot.
•The company that performed the data center assessment does not specialize in data centers. Taxpayers paid a firm that values ordinary properties to assess something that requires specialized expertise. Not a single commissioner on the current board questioned it.
•North Carolina has no homestead exemption. Why should a multi-generational family farm or longtime resident’s home be taxed at the same rate as a vacation home owned by an out-of-stater—especially when the county already taxes short-term rentals?
When commissioners don’t understand how interest on a large balance works, don’t ask basic questions about specialized tax assessments, and lack the foresight to sunset a temporary tax increase, the legislature needs the authority to set limits.
Because these boards clearly aren’t going to ask the citizens who actually understand the issues to help them figure it out.

A group calling itself Clean Politics, Clean Water NC has blanketed New Hanover County with signs and life-size cutouts of Senate Majority Leader Michael Lee.
The cutouts show him holding cash, wearing an “I ♥ Special Interest” shirt, and wetting himself. Some posters were glued to private buildings without permission.
According to the group’s spokesperson, they put up 100 posters, 400 smaller signs, and 60 cutouts. They also left flyers in grocery stores in front of the bottled water.
They won’t say who’s funding the propaganda. 🧵
