Spotify just announced a feature that could either save the music industry or destroy it.
Starting as early as Q1 2027, Spotify Premium subscribers will be able to use AI to transform any participating artistβs song into a completely different version. Turn a folk ballad into a dance track. Make a hip-hop song sound acoustic. Generate a cover where one artistβs voice performs another artistβs song. Remix a pop hit into lo-fi study music. Create the version of your favorite song that only existed in your head until now.
The remixes will be uploaded directly to Spotify. Theyβll appear in playlists. Theyβll count toward the original songβs chart position. And most importantly the original artist will earn royalties every time someone listens to a fan-created remix of their work.
Spotify has already signed a landmark licensing deal with Universal Music Group the worldβs largest record label. Negotiations with Sony Music and Warner Music are ongoing. The feature will cost an additional $4β$5/month on top of Spotify Premium. And analysts project 7β8% of American subscribers will adopt it by 2028.
This is not Suno or Udio generating music from text prompts. This is fans remixing real songs by real artists with the artistsβ permission, on the worldβs largest streaming platform, with royalties flowing back to the creators.
A music industry analyst whoβs covered streaming economics for 15 years told her team something after reading the licensing agreement that reframed how she understood the future of recorded music.
βSpotify just turned 640 million listeners into 640 million potential remixers. The question isnβt whether people will use it they will. The question is whether paying artists for fan remixes solves the economics of streaming or creates a world where the original recording is worth less than the infinite remixes generated from it.β

Here again, Jon Ossoff manages to explain Don Jr's sudden personal wealth through complex corporate juggling in simple language to a mass audience. His talent is a reputational nightmare for the Trump circle.
This is why Jon Ossoff won in a landslide in Georgia. He took the gloves off and didnβt pussyfoot around the truth.
Putting aside the fact I wrote about what he said here when many were silent, heβs making the case for why Democrats MUST now hold these monsters accountable.
This isnβt about retribution, itβs about ensuring what Trump and his puppet masters have done NEVER happens again THAT is what the American people voted for.
Of course legislation is a priority it was a priority they didnβt address in 2024, when they failed hard pressed American families who were screaming for help, while they were chasing upper middle class voters who were NEVER going to vote for them.
Then, when they were punished for it at the ballot box, they blamed the American people for rejecting them, and then stayed silent for almost a year while Trump dismantled democracy and tore down the government.
If Democratic leadership canβt walk and chew gum at the same time, then step the fuck aside and let someone who can deliver justice to the American people get the job done. Iβd go even further and suggest they step down anyway, because they donβt have the integrity or the trust required for this mission critical moment.
This is NOT the time for more of the same old same old, and thatβs what this current leadership represents Iβm afraid. Itβs why they went into this election with popularity ratings underwater.
This landslide was NOT about a ringing endorsement of the Democratic Party, it was a repudiation of a broken political system.
Itβs time for a PEOPLE FIRST REVOLUTION. This is a once in a generation opportunity to deliver transformative change. GET IT DONE.
Oh and before I finish, why does Hakeem Jeffries put full stops in the most odd places in his totally irritating sentences? An orator he is not Iβm afraid, yet in a comedic twist of irony, heβs about to become Speaker of the House. Democrats can and MUST do better.
They need to listen and READ THE ROOM, otherwise 2028 will be a repeat of 2024. Itβs hard to hear I know, but sometimes the truth hurts and someone has to say it.
