This right here is some exciting news. Our teams at @EmoryUniversity @GradyHealth worked tirelessly over the last several months to be part of this. So proud of all who poured their hearts, souls and fingertips into this, and to hope for a future of lives saved.
Today, we granted marketing authorization to the first hepatitis C virus (HCV) test that can be used to bring diagnosis to appropriately certified point-of-care settings for individuals at risk for hepatitis C, including certain substance use disorder treatment facilities, correctional facilities, and syringe service programs as well as testing in certain doctor’s offices, emergency departments, and urgent care clinics operating under a CLIA Certificate of Waiver. fda.gov/news-events/press-an… Rather than requiring a sample to be sent to a central lab for testing, the test detects HCV RNA and delivers results in about an hour using a blood sample from the fingertip.

In addition to testing the tests for #RADx, our investigators and research teams also work hard to answer scientific questions - like should we be swabbing our throats and noses for home tests? @WilburLam @EmoryPediatrics nytimes.com/live/2022/02/10/…
