Happy to share a new @ICTDTax publication reflecting on opportunities for property taxation to support local development and service provision in Somaliland, co-authored with Colette Nyirakamana and Warsame M. Ahmed at the University of Hargeisa.
📄In one of our latest research papers, we examine land and #PropertyTax systems in Somaliland’s urban municipalities, suggesting a way forward for the implementation of progressive #taxreform to finance critical urban development.

ALT An art card with the title of the paper that reads: "Research paper: Land and Property Taxation to Finance Urban Development in Somaliland: Challenges and Prospects for Reform by Colette Nyirakamana, Vanessa van den Boogaard, and Warsame Ahmed". The text is superimposed on an aerial image of a city in Somaliland that shows layers upon layers of properties - a mix of buildings houses, and towers.

Check out these really insightful reflections from PhD students @adrienne_lees and @JackIsPriya as they came back from a very productive writing retreat. Nothing like spending time away from day-to-day business to regain focus on research!
